What would be the estimated range of Air Launch Cruise Missile and is there any development Program as of latest. Last I heard RSAF is interested in Turkish ALCM project.

A Saudi-built variant of the Storm Shadow missile.

As for the ALCM project, these missiles will be used by the RSN AFAIK, not quite sure though.

Impossible, technology too sensitive to the West. I doubt very much that the France forward us the expertise of its cruise missiles. Our Turkish brothers are the only who can work with us in this area (SOM Cruise Missile).

We already have the SS being built in the UK and shipped to us, another order was placed - a multinational one -

If the French rejected a fully or partially ToT project, call me an idiot.

I'm not worried about the Turks, they can pass the blueprints unconditionally, in addition Pakistan.

The ''west''has to,there is very few ''to sensitive''left.
If they dont give it,Turkey,China,Pakistan will.

Yes but without technology transfer. Do not dream about this area. I repeat again, for his special abilities - Range, Precision, stealth -, it is a weapon too sensitive technologically. Forget West.

KSA : RSAF will acquire ‘AASM Hammer’ in place of the ‘Paveway IV’

A strategic move indeed. Congradulations...

Turkish officials have a bad experience with Storm Shadow missiles in past.

The subject passed in times when USA and Europe issue limited embargoes to their "ally" Turkey and so ordering some simple MLRS system suddenly become a headache for us under the name of military ballance against our European neighbour. Even If they sell us something usefull, The toys always came with restrictions of usage against PKK or Cyprus...etc

While Turkey was such restricted by West in terms of militay procurement, Greece stepped a strategic move with meeting France to order Storm-Shadow missiles despite the fact that strong reactions of Turkey because It was a game challenging system among two countries having serious problems. We threatened France with cutting even civilian trades to block this deal but All those efforts doesn't lead Turkey to stop France. Think West two face policies that selling strategic missile system to small Greece, While Even Norway rejects selling Turkey short range penguen anti-ship missiles at first attempt.

Such examples told Turkish officials once again the importance of having a strong defence technologies. In 2007, Turkey commenced development of own cruise missile family called SOM as a response to such politic events. While Turkish officials are developing SOM cruise missile, They considered a likely clash on sea like Aegean so SOM has serious advantages/features Storm Shadow lacks.

-Heavier SCALP can't be used on aircrafts like F-16, F-35, While SOM is planned to be integrated on inner bays of F-35 as well.

-Scalp doesn't have attacking capability against moving targets, While SOM can be used as Air launchable anti-ship cruise missile roles in Aegean as well.

-To benefit the full SCALP engagement capabilities, It is neccesary to have spy high resolution satellites , While high-res. IIR seeker of SOM is performing great at terminal phase along with combination of other guidance methods including TERCOM.

- SOM has complex navigation methods along with TOP and DIRECT ATTACK modes at final phase to cause most destructive effects in accordance with type of targets.

-SOM-B2 is actually a penetrator which is designed for strategic buildings hidden under the ground.

...and all of these cruise missiles(including SOM and Raad) you guys talking about are using American GPS satellites :coffee: as long as one don't launch its own positioning satellites all those cruise missiles at USA's mercy.

Nop. ;)

It is not that simple. They may very well used the guidance systems IBN (Image Based Navigation) and TRN (Terrain Referenced Navigation).

For this all you need surveillance satellites with high 3D relief capacity.
