Featured Pakistan Navy Type 054AP Frigates - Update, News & Discussion

Hi,

We have a great example of JV in front of us---Th JF17---a very successful JV---.

But that is not it---while doing this JV---we ended up assisting our ally china with 50 plus essential upgrades and adjustments---would it have happened if there was no JV for JF17---I don't think so---and then what about input in the upper tier projetcs.

The JV's are not central to the project that you are working with you partners---there are other project that are being worked on---even though they are not yours---but still you offer your input---or your partners offer their input---.

Hi,

They don't mistake those UUV with torps---.

You are just winging it left and right---you are totally clueless to what you are writing---.

Far less has been mistake for enemy craft during a time of heightened tensions. Whales particularly have been consider hostile contacts, more than once; the Gulf of Tonkin incident and during the falklands war. Even to the point that whales have been Torpedoed. These were American and British ASW officers, well trained, but they still made the mistake and acted upon it.

Newer Torpedos are quieter, battery technology has reached a level where torpedos can accelerate from zero to 50 knots in a second; all this limits detection and reaction times. Not all UUVs are gliders, but can be 21 inch diameter torpedo shaped vehicles. Mistakes can be made, even by the most well trained, especially when in a stressful situation. Misunderstandings can lead to a commander taking an action he may other wise not have undertaken otherwise.

The scenario built by PF can be flawed such as towed sonar would have to be reeled -in once the boat starts to speed up etc, however, the question remains.... if a sub captain knows that the onboard ASW weapons suit does not have anything longer ranged than 20 KM at best, he has more room to maneuver and make a kill including narrowing down the angle of attack thus giving grater chances for torp to score a kill and less maneuvering time for the Frigate.

This can be countered to some extent by Helo launched torps but it takes time for a helo to get in the air. Once hostile action starts it becomes a game of minutes. So having a longer range torp on board can make a difference.

Hi,

Subs don't want to get entangled with the unknown or the doubtful.

A whale may doubtfully be a silent sub as a poster mentioned---but a ship using equipment is not---. In peaceful times---the sub will just move away---.

Because once a sub attacks another platform---it is then leading to an end game---where the sub eventually might not come out ahead.

Indeed longer range high speed torps are a solution---but then the subs have their own protection.

Many a years ago---I wrote what capability pak submarine fleet needs to get---I will not repeat it here again---.

HQ-10 on type 54

Replacing HQ-7 ?? 525 had HQ-7 I think these were 054 ans not 054A with HQ-18 ?? Guessing
What’s the range on both the HQ-7 and the HQ-10. If the HQ-10 is at least comparable, I hope the PN replaces the HQ-7 on the F-22P frigates with the HQ-10; 20+ cell variant, so it has enough rounds to adequately defend against saturation attacks. (Along with an upgrade to the radar to be equal to that being installed on the Type 054A/P, for maximum siatuational awareness)

That will be ideal , also replace c802a to that of harba missile

we can move the c802a to smaller fast attack craft, using the larger space on the F-22P frigates to their maximum capabilities.

All these will probably only be considered when these ships go for its mid-life refit. At $175 Million the F-22p frigates were an economical platform to replace the Type 21 frigates, but now that the PN is looking to comprehensively modernize and expand the mission to the full EEZ, it needs to rebuild its older platforms to allow the PN the full reach their platforms allow (both physically, electronically, and psychologically)

F22 can also get 16 cell Vls instead of GQ-7 with mod that means it could carry HQ-18 as well as Asroc like 054a/p

Another trend on chines ships recently observed is tight packing ssm to carry 12 or 16 cell launchers rather Than standard 8
