Correction: It is a Japanese engineering feat built in Pakistan. Then is nothing remotely Pakistani about the engineering. I can bet the designer, the project leader, the on site team, the fabrication of steel was all done in Japan or by Japanese.

Engineering feast but operational disaster.
Bridges are being over loaded, while relevant ministry is either clueless or not happy with project.

Wrong , it's being developed under CPEC Project.

Any pictures of the descent on the other side of the mountain? Is that part of the project too?

The first phase of ‘improvement’ of N-70 (national highway) has commenced with the funding of Japan.

Mr Bhatti said the hilly portion of N-70, which was constructed in the late 19th century by the British engineers, [sigh] had seven difficult turns to negotiate to climb up the high mountain of Girdo to reach For Munro or Bewata. “These turns are main hurdle for Gwadar-bound heavy cargo traffic and there is a plan to make travel easier by using Japanese technology,” he said.

He said almost 33-kilometre long tough hilly portion of N-70 would be widened and improved with installation of eight steel bridges having a total length of 1.5 kilometre.

The Japanese engineering company which had made Kohat tunnel was working on this project too, he said, adding that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would inaugurate the work on first phase soon.

The project can be dumped in the "CPEC" category but if you check you will find the funding, construction is being done by Japanese government and Japanese company.

There is no descent. The road climbs onto the Baloch plateau where it sort of levels out.

Bridge like this would be better if built by the Japanese.

I was going to post photos and videos of them Japanese in shalwaars looking remarkably like Pakistanis working on the project but then backed-out because of fear of a certain mod or 2

BTW Japanese not only supervised it but also funded it at ratio of 13:5 (13 Japan 5 Pakistan).

Yes it was funded by the Japanese government development fund. Same for Swat tunnel.
