Yamaha motor cycle plant to be inaugurated in Pakistan

Allow few more companies open up their factories, preferably Honda, Suzuki, These guys fight for market share...... And once they start competing with each other, then that is the time they will start bringing up good models........ That will put pressure on local manufactures ( i dono if you have any) they will also start improving their product portfolio...... The product upgrade will happen slowly and it will take time to get some fancy models to your country......

Honda & Suzuki along with some other assemblers of Chinese are already there and are producing same ancient modals.

Then get Bajaj, TVS & Hero to your country, They do not have any obsolete models, and they are fighting hard compete with these giants in India, Once you get these companies, automatically the japanese will start giving you latest ones.......

It also depends on the market and expectation......... In India barring Honda, others are not doing much inspite of having good models. Infact in India Yamaha does about 40k in an industry which is close to 2 million....

CD 70 CC class motorcycles are a cottage industry in Pakistan. Calling them Chinese assemblers is wrong. Almost 100% parts are made locally including two or three companies making engines. The part makers sell to anyone who has money. The buyers simply assemble the bikes and stick there logos on it. There must be about 30 to 40 assemblers. The same story with tractors, however, the two main assemblers Millat and Ghazi has so far been successful in discouraging other groups to source local parts and put their own brand. The Dewan group tried but failed as they were sued on patent issues. The 70 CC patent is lost now so the big manufacturers Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha are moving into bigger engines. They have been in Pakistan for decades, Yamaha has simply built a new plan.

Simply allow Bajaj to set up shop in Pakistan, and then provide it adequate land, power, security and manpower. The rest will follow. The Pakistan bike scene will be unrecognizable in under 5 years.

I don't think Pakistan needs help from India, go check the link above and see the range of motorcycles available. CD70 is more like bicycle in Pakistan not the top model. Do some research before you pass judgment. Pakistan is the 5th largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world and also a significant exporter.

true, the bikes produced are shitty and their design hasnt changed for decades, I so envy those indian bikes. there are so many of them, different models and different designs, wish our automobile industry was this developed and innovative.
i cant understand that we're making jets in out home but couldnt make decent bikes.

funny thing 2015 and 1991 have same design .. its just on papers when you sell with chasis number confirmation that this batakh was made in that year :)
honda needs to improve their design..

Sorry man, you're really deluded.

Our doodhwallas would not spit at what you call bikes.

Did not want to be rude on what till now was an excellent thread, with genuine enthusiasts, minus the chest thumping. But rudeness begets rudeness.

You guys still make the Enfield from 1940s

Which is one hell of a machine. Retro chic. And exported all over the world, with firangs paying big $ bucks for the privilege of owning one.

And these machines are serious 350 and 500 cc thumpers. Not the 70 c POSs you guys call bikes.

We also manufacture 400 cc modern machines that are quicker and faster than most modern cars, leaving even premium sedans huffing and puffing in their wake. Also exported worldwide, not just to the developing world, but to the US, UK, Australia, EU, and now even the US.

What was your point again? Stop your dick measuring here, because in this arena you have a deep hollow pit, and not even an infantile nub to barely qualify as a dick.

That is one brand which is growing like mad in India....... Probably the only motor cycle in India which is selling on a 6 month booking period.......

I hope they bring new types of motorcycles and scooters.

Pakistan has only a couple of models of motorcycles and it seems the current local manufacturers have only changed the badge as they look very similar and have same performance and quality standards.

Which one you would prefer

TOKYO – Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar held a meeting with a high level delegation of Yamaha Motor Corporation here.

The delegation was led by Motorcycle Business Operations, Senior Executive Officer Katsuaki Watanabe. The finance minister welcomed the decision of Yamaha Motors to start business in Pakistan, taking advantage of the new-entrant policy of the government. He informed the delegation that Pakistan offered excellent business and investment opportunities with low labour costs, geographical proximity to the Middle East and Central Asian Republics and South Asia as well as incentives for foreign investors.

He wished the Yamaha delegation the best in its business endeavours in Pakistan and assured that any issues faced by them would be resolved soon. He asked the Yamaha delegation to further market Pakistan by spreading the word about Pakistan's investment conditions amongst other Japanese companies. The Yamaha delegation briefed the finance minister about the progress of work on its motor cycle manufacturing plant.

Dar was informed that the plant would produce 31,000 units in the first year with a localisation of 25 per cent. He was further informed that Yamaha would achieve 55 per cent localisation in three years and 85 per cent in five years. Yamaha delegation stated that the delegation would bring new value to Pakistani market and increase the competitiveness of its industry. Yamaha would initially focus on the domestic Pakistani market and target exports at a later stage.

It was decided that the inauguration of the Yamaha motor cycle manufacturing plant would take place in April this and that Yamaha president would visit Pakistan on the occasion. The meeting was also attended by the Board of Investment chairman, the Pakistan ambassador in Tokyo and other senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Pakistan Embassy.
