With the drum beat for war on Iran intensifying in recent weeks, the question seems to come down to whether or not Israel is bluffing about their implied military strike on Iran before the November presidential elections in the US.

Al-Monitor yesterday interviewed “former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Colin Kahl” who “traveled to Israel 13 times during his tenure as the Obama administration’s top Pentagon Middle East civilian policy advisor from 2009 to the end of 2011.” Kahl, who has supported negotiations over war, thinks Israel is not “merely bluffing.”

Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern seems to agree, arguing that “Netanyahu feels, with good reason, that he’s got Obama in a corner for these next three months,” and therefore, he is “willing to try it.”

Others see an Israeli strike as unlikely for three primary reasons. First, there may be some level of concern in Tel Aviv that an attack on Iran without a green light from the US would mean suffering the diplomatic consequences of that, which, despite America’s absurd deference to Israeli insolence, could be significant. Second, there is strong opposition in the Israeli defense establishment to a preventive strike on Iran, which pressures Netanyahu and Barak against an attack. Third, the rather obvious negative geopolitical consequences of attacking Iran – not least of which could include destabilizing neighboring Afghanistan, unsettling world oil markets, the breakout of international conflict in Syria, and a reconstituted Iranian nuclear weapons program (which currently doesn’t exist) – leads one to believe Netanyahu and his cabinet are smarter than that.

Many in the media and the electorate in both the US and Israel continue to latch onto two falsehoods: (1) Iran is developing nuclear weapons; and (2) if Iran has a nuclear weapon, they will use it to destroy Israel. Nobody in the official or academic communities believe either of these two ideas, but they are prominently featured in the debate about Iran right now. On the first score, both US and Israeli intelligence have said repeatedly that Iran has no nuclear weapons program. In order to believe the second idea, you’d have to throw out everything that we’ve come to understand about nuclear deterrence over 67 years.

As Zbigniew Brzezinski, the hawkish former National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter and scholar at the Center for Strategic International Studies, said back in March, “there is no argument to the contrary” of basic nuclear deterrence, “except one extremely silly argument that somehow or other the Iranians are messianic, that they want desperately to commit suicide.”

So, it’s clear Iran wouldn’t nuke Israel, but will Israel attack Iran? “Ya know who’s messianic?” Brzezinski added provocatively. “Netanyahu.”

Iran, Ahmadinejad, & the 12th Imam

Throughout time, there have been many evil madmen who cite their cause as reason to perform horrific acts upon his fellow man. In the recent past, Hitler comes to mind. Among other things, under the guise of ethnic cleansing (or the elimination of an “inferior race”) for the greater good. One example is Hitler, who killed many Jewish people in an attempt to eliminate through horrific gas chambers what he saw as an "inferior race."

Jump forward to present day. The madman’s name is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran. He refers to Israelis and Americans are "Little Satan" and "Great Satan," since to radical Muslims, the term "Satan" refers to groups rather than a specific individual as Christians know. Christians know that a fallen angel, Lucifer, is Satan. To a lot of radical Muslims, Satan is groups of people, or countries, not an individual, hence the “Satan” labels he’s given to Israel and the United States. Ahmadinejad's potential weapons are even more horrific than Hilter's gas chambers in that they are capable of killing millions in minutes. His goal in doing this is to hail the Shiite Muslim's messiah, the 12th Imam.

According to Islamic belief, an Imam is an anointed leader or ruler. Moreover, among the Islamic Shia, an Imam is believed to be a prayer leader or cleric who is anointed by the Islamic prophet Allah and a perfect example being able to lead mankind in every way. The 12th Imam, according to some Shia Muslims, is a great spiritual savior. This savior has a name; Muhammad al Mahdi.

Mahdi was born around 868 A.D. at a time of large persecutions of Shiite Muslims. In order to protect him, his father, the 11th Imam, sent him into hiding. Mahdi appeared briefly in public as a child, but when his father died, he went back into the shadows. Even today, Shiites believe he continues to guide Muslims. Mahdi’s followers are often called ‘Twelvers’. Some devout Shiite Muslims believe him to be a direct descendant of the prophet Mohammed.

The president of Iran, Ahmadinejad, is a deeply committed Shiite Muslim and has spoken often and openly about praying for the return al Mahdi, his savior. But not in a way Christians speak about their savior Jesus Christ returning to earth, as you will soon discover. Ahmadinejad believes that the 12th Imam is coming soon and that he is the chosen one. Chosen by Allah himself to hasten Mahdi’s return; which wherein is where the problem lies.

At a recent speech at the United Nations, Ahmadinejad prayed to his [false] God asking him to “hasten the arrival of the Imam Mahdi”. At another UN speech, he begins by saying,

"O mighty Lord, I pray to you to hasten the emergence
of your last repository, the Promised One,
that perfect and pure human being,
the one that will fill this world with justice and peace."

When he returned to Iran, Ahmadinejad claimed that when he began saying

"In the name of God the almighty and merciful,"
someone saw a light around me, and I was placed inside this aura.
I felt it myself. I felt the atmosphere suddenly change,
and for those 27 or 28 minutes, the leaders of the world did not blink,
they were rapt.
It seemed as if a hand was holding them there
and had opened their eyes to receive the message from the Islamic republic"

He “was in an aura of light” and “felt a change in the atmosphere during which time no one present could blink their eyes”. Unbelievable!

Let’s pause and recap for a moment. At the very least, we clearly have an unbalanced man, most likely a psychopathic killer, who is the leader of an oil rich nation where money is essentially endless. His scientists are working around the clock to develop nuclear weapons. If unable to produce, he has the resources to purchase them along with biological weapons or E.M.P. devices from a friendly rogue nation. As a fanatical Muslim, he hates all non-Muslims especially Christians and Jews, which he openly states. Ahmadinejad is also someone who believes he has been told by the prophet Mohammed that he is the chosen one to hasten the return of the Muslim’s messiah by creating chaos throughout the world. Combine all of this with a world full of countries, except for Israel, who is unable or unwilling to stop this madman and we have all the ingredients of a very serious situation.

Even with the overwhelming inarguable evidence stated above, many world leaders and decision makers still dismiss this dangerous man as some lunatic in a 3rd world country that is all bark but no bite. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Should Chairman Mao, Hitler, Che Guevara, or Joseph Stalin have been taken more seriously before they murdered tens of millions of people? Yes! Should Iran be treated seriously? Yes, because the Bible tells us so.

Let’s compare and contrast what the Bible says about end-time prophecy with what the ‘Twelvers’ believe about the coming of the 12th Imam, remembering that Satan always tries to duplicate what God does.

Christianity

The Return of the 12th Imam
Matthew 24:14 Jesus will come after His followers spread His Good News throughout the world. Mahdi will return when his followers create chaos and death in the world.
The antichrist will appear as The Rapture happens. Those left behind will believe it’s the end of the world. Mahdi will return just before the end of the world.
The antichrist will appear as the 7 years of Tribulation begins amid horrendous world chaos. Mahdi’s appearance will supposedly be preceded by a number of prophetic events during 3 years of horrendous world chaos tyranny and oppression.
The antichrist will move his seat of power from the E.U. to Jerusalem where multitudes will pledge allegiance to him. Mahdi will move his seat of power from Medina to Mecca where thousands will pledge allegiance to him.
The antichrist will force people to worship him or be beheaded. Mahdi will supposedly force people to convert to Islam or be beheaded.
The antichrist will be given control of the earth during the 7 years of Tribulation. Mahdi will rule over the Arabs and world for 7 years.
The antichrist will setup a one world religion and government. Mahdi will setup a one world religion and government.
The antichrist will come in peace, but eradicate all that oppose him and demand people worship him. Mahdi will supposedly exterminate all tyranny and oppression bringing harmony and total peace.
The antichrist will proclaim himself as God in the Jewish Temple with the False Prophet at his side. Mahdi will supposedly lead a prayer in Mecca in which Jesus will be at his side as his lieutenant.

When compared side by side, the picture becomes clear. Beyond any doubt, the 12th Imam is Christianity’s antichrist. The Twelver’s evil is our good; their good is our evil. Both Christianity and Islam have a very well-defined eschatology, or period of the last days; both of them cannot be correct.

In our article titled ‘How We Know We Can Trust Biblical Prophecy’, we present why the Holy Bible is the infallible word of God, how dozens of detailed, specific Old Testament prophecies about the life of Christ was accurately fulfilled centuries later in the New Testament and why Christianity’s eschatology is precisely the way the next few years will transpire. Jesus warned us about people like Ahmadinejad, inspired by Satan, spouting false beliefs in the name of a religion…

Matthew 24:11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many”

Matthew 24:24 “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”

Mark 13:22 “For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect—if that were possible.”

Luke 6:26 “Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

2 Peter 2:1 “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.

Ahmadinejad’s enemies are clear; Jews and Christians. His radical theology instructs him that in order to bring about the return of the Mahdi those believers must initiate and spread as much death and destruction throughout the world as humanly possible. Ahmadinejad believes that he personally has been chosen by Muhammad to do this and he has publically stated that he will do this:

Ahmadinejad has virtually unlimited funds. His scientists are building atomic weapons. Iran and Israel are only several hundreds of miles apart, so it is very likely he will attack Israel as soon as it is militarily advantageous to do so.

As Christians, we know time is short before we’re whisked off to Heaven to be with our Lord and loved ones during The Rapture. This is the season and we are the generation that will see it. Around the time of The Rapture, a defining battle will take place around Israel called the War of Gog and Magog. Persia (present day Iran), along with Russia and other Arab countries will be the attacking force, converging on Israel to annihilate the Jewish people and steal the country’s riches, before being annihilated themselves by the hand of God themselves.

In his misguided quest to execute Mohammad’s desires to pave the way for the 12th Imam, Ahmadinejad is actually fulfilling a portion of Christianity’s end-time prophecy by bringing his armies against Israel. At the time of this writing, February of 2010, with world events such as they are, it’s hard to imagine that Ahmadinejad is only a few months or at most a few years away from launching his attack on Israel. And isn’t it a blessing that as Ezekiel wrote down God’s words thousands of years ago that we would be alive to see it transpire.

Ahmadinejad said that the world is witnessing a revolution managed by Imam Mahdi, the 12th infallible imam who disappeared in the 10th century and who, it is believed, will return to usher in a rule of justice. "The final move has begun … we are in the middle of a global revolution managed by the dear (12th Imam). A great awakening is unfolding. One can witness the hand of the imam in managing it."

Who better to know a kook like ahMADinejad when they see one ?

True, Evangelicals are always looking for ways to speed up the coming of Christ so if anybody should know about loony it would be them.

As for Ahmadinejad I will admit a lot of what he says is belligerent sometimes to the point where it is funny but Netanyahu more than makes up for it with his own warmongering. They go blow for blow against each other brilliantly. Also if Iran ever does get the bomb Ahmadinejad would not be the one who makes the decision to use it. He probably won't even be the president come said time. Netanyahu however already has the bomb and is frothing at the mouth. Who is more of a danger to the world when you look at it in this way???

. . . . .

Ahmadinejad IS a kook with the TWELVER stuff and all, but the ayatollah is the one who calls the shot in the end. He's the one who will, more or less be choosing the little nuts replacement. He decides who can run. And he's into the kooky sh!t, too.

So Ahmadinejad ISN'T into the Twelver stuff ? 'End of Days and the mahdi ? He DIDN'T say the goofy sh!t about his speech at the U.N. ? FoxNews made ALL that up, right ?
