Will the army really quit meddling in politics for good?

Wouldn't that be already considered meddling?

Army interference in politics is tolerable. Politicization of the army is absolute red line.
Army has and should have no role in politics. They can give the government their views on some issues like national security etc and let the government decide what to do and then implement the government policy.

As the country's biggest employer, the armed forces do get to enjoy certain political leverage but interference is a harsh word to use for that leverage.

Sorry but if the armed forces become a tool for politicians to implement policy, it will be nothing more than the police.

Never understood this argument either.

The Chiefs are forced to be involved because the politicians lean towards them to be involved. Being the head of a powerful and an organized institution, would it be not wise for the Chief to politely decline and focus on his job role.

I was of the understanding that NDU or other military courses do not have political engineering courses. Or am I wrong here?

Gen Asim has a golden opportunity here. Withdraw from everything politics and hold accountable every soldier whose involved in politics. One such move, and he’ll be remembered for ages.
Chiefs are never forced to be involved by Politicians. Politicians turn to army because they know army holds actual power and can get things done.
If army is not involved then Politicians will have no choice but to settle their disputes in Parliament and courts.

Political leverage cannot be removing a elected government as an example. Army cannot be compared to police where all appointments are made by politicians. Army has its own checks and balance system which doesn't allow politicians to interfere.

Army did not vote in the vote of no confidence neither are they the one dismissing provincial assemblies.

As of now army cannot be compared to police but there are draft legislation in both houses looking to make that pipe dream a reality.

Army didn't vote but created the space for it. Army will certainly resist these legislations overtly or covertly.

It's been more than a decade since these drafts were finished under the banner of Civilian Supremacy and charter of democracy.

Why don't you blame the previous government on relying on tacit support of the army to keep the minority government imposed?

From supreme hypocrite to spokesperson to close confidant and even the fans, archives are full of absolute arrogance when they were questioned that government policies are threatening the government. The PM of the time is on the record of saying no one can throw him out of the government as he has the army's backing.

Reap what you sowed and stop crying.

PTI was the largest party in the last elections and yes it had to cobble a coalition to come to power. It can't be called a minority government. Do your sums and stop supporting the corrupt.

Never ever, unless they are forced to.
By whom

. .
Organically, it would need 5 consecutive Chiefs who politely refuse to be involved in politics where in parallel proper legislations can be put in place and politicians start getting sensible.

Inorganically, you can have a public protest/violence rejig the system and knock sense into establishment.

For establishment to decide, which route they want to take.

Army

Army should politely refuse
That's what bajwa did when asked to impose emergency to stop Vote of Confidence.
Turns out people still have problem.. so it's not just about the interference itself .. public also want interference on their own time and choice.
