Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he would soon visit Pakistan to extend support ‘in the hour of need’.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan embassy in Ankara, Erdogan met a Pakistani parliamentary delegation at the Presidential Palace in Ankara on Thursday.

Terming the visit of Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation – led by Senator Mushahid Hussain – as ‘very significant’, Erdogan said “your support to Turkey in the aftermath of the July 15 coup attempt is exemplary”.

Erdogan thanked the Pakistani leadership, and the lawmakers for unanimously passing resolutions in support of democracy in Turkey.

Turkey wants Pakistan, other ‘friendly countries’ to help against Gulen

The Turkish president extended support to the country following the Quetta hospital attack, saying his country stood with Pakistan in the struggle against terrorism.

The attack, which took place on the premises of the Civil Hospital on August 8, killed 75 people, most of them lawyers who had gathered at the facility after the targeted killing of the Balochistan Bar Association’s president.

The parliamentary delegation included lawmakers from eight political parties, who expressed complete solidarity and support to Turkey’s defence of democracy.

The Turks have our full support. The coup was illegal and unconstitutional. The US is harboring a man who is accused of staging the coup.

A Pakistani who says a coup was illegal and unconstitutional! Oh, the irony...
