Will Indonesia replace India in the BRICs?

It seems that NONE of the Indians are able to make an argument as to why India deserves to stay in the BRICs.

India was downgraded by S&P, Indonesia was not.

India has far worse budget deficits, debt-to-GDP ratio, and is now growing slower than Indonesia too. India has an external debt that is bigger than their currency reserves, as well as extreme policy paralysis.

It was Jim O'Neill himself (the person who came up with the idea of BRIC) that said: "India is the most disappointing of all the BRIC nations".

It was the famous Indian-American Fareed Zakira that said: "India should be replaced with Indonesia in the BRICs".

those are the poor situation of indians living in HK. Not even qualified for a janitor's job.

If you dont know a sh*t about "external debt" dont brag and let the rest of the people see how much a fool you are!

The Indians living in Hong Kong are MUCH better off than they are back in the slums of India.

At least here, nobody practices open defecation (like the majority of Indians do). And we don't have millions of people starving to death every year like in India.

Hong Kong also has an HDI ranking higher than countries like Britain/France/Spain.

Why do you think the Indian illegal immigrants are climbing over each other to get here?

That's true CD! If these indians are poor they can go for welfare and some charitable org for a shelter and free food!

What is your view compared to pregnant mainland women flooding into HK to give birth and taking over local resources?. From the news, it seems an outcry from local HK people. They even to come so far to label them Locusts.

Struggles are common in economy....lolz typical pakistani mentality..... think about your own country financial condition....
India is huge market when you compared to Indonesia.... don't get too much excited because of Rupee value....

we keep kicking Indian government to take precautionary steps otherwise crying for falling Indian rupees is in fact foul. Its not the indian rupees falling but its about appreciation of US$. Yes Indian rupees has fallen for about 10% during last three months against US$, since february 2012, but have a look as below, almost all the major world currencies are in this same category.
(US$ is not everything, and even if US$ get appreciation, it then reduce oil price in $ term also due to high $ value. )

Brazilian currency got depreciated by 12% during last 3 months:
Brazilian Real to US Dollar Exchange Rate Graph - Feb 21, 2012 to May 18, 2012

Canadian $ by around 6% during last 3 months
Canadian Dollar to US Dollar Exchange Rate Graph - Feb 21, 2012 to May 18, 2012

Australian $ by 9% during last 3 months
Australian Dollar to US Dollar Exchange Rate Graph - Feb 21, 2012 to May 18, 2012

Euro by around 6% during last 3 months
Euro to US Dollar Exchange Rate Graph - Feb 21, 2012 to May 21, 2012

then why is it any problem if Indian rupees has fallen around 10% than US$, while Indian rupees was maintained at 51/US$ in early 2009, and 50/US$ in 2002 itself? compare the 10 years chart of India and Pakistan as below, we find Indian rupees is just on correcting its value as even if India was on high inflation for last 10 years, rupees faced only around 10% depreciation since 2002? while Pakistani rupees has moved from 58/US$ to around 90/US$ right now?

I am not surprised at these racial remarks being hurled by extreme HK right wings! They have labels for indians too!

Well Indian, there is a big difference. Firstly, we are all a part of the same country (China), and we are fellow citizens, and fellow Chinese people. There is some regionalism, but that is limited to a small percentage of the population.

Illegal Indians on the other hand are like a slimy mass that tries to slither in, without bothering to even learn to speak Chinese.

Then these same hypocrite Indians try to pretend that India is a "superpower" with "white slaves" and "white servants" all over the place. Like in this video clip from a recent Indian movie:

So what the US was also downgraded by S&P that eventually led to the ouster of their chief at the helm of affairs !

IND has a negative BoP situation but we are net exporters of services & biggest receivers of remittances not to mention FII investments are still on the up here !

What Jim or Fareed say is their own personal(biased) opinion but for reasons beyond your comprehension IND cannot & will not be replaced anytime soon in the concept of BRICS !

these financial vultures are not just looking at the plight of the rupee. It is the composite poor situations that all together make the indian outlook very bleak!

America was downgraded from a high place, their "investment status" is still safe unless they get downgraded several more times.

India on the other hand is only ONE rank away from "junk status". There is a big difference.

correct. the difference is so huge. USA is still no 1 in many things while the reverse is true for india!

Your leaders dont care your opinion . They begged India to make an alliance with them to counter US .
