Well sir u do need to pump it down sometimes I've seen u going as far as insulting Hindu gods , do it with our Muslim brother sometimes and I'll be happy to see the consequences .

Regarding do we need him ? Ofc he has so much knowledge but its sad to see certain ppl constantly resorts to insults when talking to him and same goes for Joe sir .

And stop using -ve ratings as a weapon.

He is one of the Respectable guys here.

Cheers for his spirit and logic !!

I am seeing way too much ganging up and hitting out at Joe guys.

I am reminded of the Moto GP race yesterday (and the past few)where the puppies are ganging upand snapping at the withers of the aging lion.

Why is Joe important for us?

He very articulately expresses the view of the far left. Of the liberal. The once communist. The atheist. The secular (no prefix attached). The religion hater. The Modi hater. The Hindu right wing hater.

We have no other like him who also happens to be a Hindu.

More importantly, for me, he's old school.

And we have no Indian babajee his age.

The Pakistanis have a few.

We have exactly zero left (Ray long gone) who can talk to them as a generational equal. And be taken seriously.

So please be respectful.

If he's old enough to be my dad, he's old enough to be most of your dadoo.

I detest greatly those low lifes who abuse him. A physical distaste.

Cheers, Doc

He is the most logical & sensible members not only among Indians , but among all the members

i respect him as an elder with tons of wisdom of life's experiences & geo-politics

Indian friends , cherish him , learn from him , make the best use of his presence to enhance your knowledge , take it from me i hated my , geography teacher , she was strict , the subjects of longitude & latitudes ,tectonic plates you name it , but today i respect her the most among my teachers, i am appreciated for my knowledge of geography by friends & family alike & its because of her , had she not been strict , i might have not even know that Antarctica is in the south , yup for me penguins & polar bears were all in the arctics !

Sad to hear that Mr.Ray (Tiki tam Tam) is no more. Never came across him here and I am not member of any other defence forum, so it's my own misfortune not to read his posts. May his soul rest in peace.

Why we need Joe here? Why does this question arise at all? He is not a pseudo-secular, the newly invented term that right wing nationalists love to apply anybody here who do not agree with their own unrealistic ideas and opinions. He explained himself repeatedly, not sure why Rights wings tend to cling on this argument again and again. Neither he ever declared himself a communist, as far as my knowledge goes. It's in fact funny to call him that if you know a little bit more about him. His knowledge about Hinduism (his belief in atheism did not deter him away from reading about it), sorry to say folks, is MUCH better than any of you Indians. I need not say about his contribution in general history or military history and strategic affairs, his posts (both earlier and those recently) if you had cared to read with patience, we would not have to ask why we need him at all.

Some said, he is from an earlier generation and deserve respect. Give me a break, guys. We need to respect him because we respect our grand fathers and teachers!! That is not respect but tolerance. Posters like Ray or Joe define a society, (much unlike most of us here) who represent quality, refined thoughts which needs to be acknowledged with utmost respect. What a few members hurled at him is real unfortunate and only proves that he is in fact accurate in assessing the 'nationalists' in most of the cases.

I agree with all you have said, but this (PDF) is the muddy akhara of our times, one should step in expecting to get dirty when wrestling with trolls and right-wingers. No quarter is asked and none is given irrespective of age, sex and creed

I think we don't give enough credit to @Joe Shearer, he is not a helpless doddering senile old fool but as young in spirit as any of us with much more fire and gumption in his gonads to take on right, left or center or all of them together.

So perhaps we should let him be and take on each one of us in that inimitable style of his.
