Why the IAF wants the S-400 missile | India Today Insight

same could be said about, SU30, R77, Migs etc.... but IAF/India said all failed. buy new fighters new missiles etc...

Makes any sense, what IAF / Indians claim?
IAF never said the Su-30 nor the Mig-29s failed. They feel the Mig-21s & 27s are outdated and it's time to phase them out. HAL doesn't have the capability yet to produce Tejas in decent numbers to fill in the gap which is why they're looking towards the Rafale and also since they need a medium weight fighter.

Regarding the R77s, the variant we have has a relatively shorter range than your AMRAAMs which is why they're looking to procure the IDerby ER or MBDA Meteor (which are already on the kit-list for our Rafales) but I doubt that would happen since Russians aren't keen on integrating western missiles on Russian platforms. The only option we have right now is increase the production of Astra BVRAAMs and integrate it across all platforms

very good, Indian Army and navy also need help.

They are just plugging the gaps before going for full revenge episode. Refuting or mocking is not the wise thing. they were failed on 27/2 ....that does mean they will fail again....what options we have ?

a good reference read is:

We would neither receive the first batch of Rafales nor S-400 until mid 2020. Also, to receive all 36 Rafales and 5 units of S-400 would take a couple of years I guess

Wrong, Rafale isn't meant to replace the Migs. That's what 114 tender is for. Rafale is there because India believes that 19 F-16D out class the 200+ Su 30MKI in tech.

Also, according to IAF, the R-77 has a shorter range than advertised. That was their statement! You guys have the R-77 variant with most range, there is another one produced, newer but it is for the Su 57. The R-77 with India has 100+ km range.

Orders for 36 Rafales have been placed 4 years in prior to the Feb-27th fiasco. IAF was always in favor of Rafales over any other competitor jet which is why they're insisting on acquiring more Rafales. The 114 tender is unlikely to happen since MoD isn't keen on procuring American jets given how they'd sanction us during times when we don't act according to their interests nor Russian Mig-35s due to high maintenance/spares costs. 114 EFT or Rafales would put a hole in IAF's pocket. The only feasible option right now is to order 1 or 2 more squadrons of Rafales and if IN decides to go with Rafale-Ms for IAC-3, I'd see a possibility to produce them locally

Regarding R-77, check out this thread from 2011 which points out serious flaws in R-77 putting it's range at 50-80km
https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/indi...o-air-missile-there-is-a-serious-flaw.130147/

Also, the corrupt IAF top brass would leech on every opportunity to acquire to foreign systems for kickbacks which in the process have killed many indigenous projects by constantly updating spec requirements
