Why the FM addressed UN in Urdu !

Mughals were mongoloid turks who spoke chagtai,,,so urdu is similar to chaghtai.
Someone give this think tank a positive
Persian was language of elites in those times so it was used in court.
The mongoloid turks spoke chagtai among thmselves, thr mothertongue.

Mughal as in Mughal empire that stretched from Afghanistan to Bengal, genius.
The armies, elites, nobles, clergy, aristocracy spoke tons of languages. Urdu was the result of a complex mix that can entirely be attributed to the Mughal empire. There was no India, Indians, Bharat anywhere.

It's amazing that you can hurt an Indian ego just by citing some basic historical facts and dates.

There was no baharat when it originated, it was part of dar u islam, the mughal empire and after that the british raj, bharat is what u got after independence.
You helped makes Dar e Islam smaller. Thanks.

Rrright.
As u mentioned armies, nobles, elites, clergymen contributed thr native words to the local tongue of north india, which was khariboli n thus urdu was born.yes north india.thts why even after being so "complex" hindi speakers understand it quite easily which cannot be said for others,,,say mongoliod turks for example :D
Its a language of north indian origin.despite being under mughals bengal, south indian states or afghanistan for tht matter rarely have urdu speakers.while northindia has more native urdu speakers thn afghanistan n pakistan combined.
Heck if not for the elite north indian migrants pakistan got post partition n thr consequent dissing of local pakistani languages n imposing urdu, today most of pakistanis wud be thinking urdu to be some mutated form of hindi .
But hey its mongoloid turkish,,all gud

Excellent reply by SMQ. It becomes even more appealing knowing the fact he can speak English fluently and he does speak when necessary but at such an official event, selection of Urdu as a language was perfect and it should have always been the case. IK did both his speeches in Urdu so it shows PTIs dedication to promote national language and boost nation dignity through actions. Long Live Pakistan, Long Live Imran Khan.

Hi,

The speech was " worthless " in urdu---. It was just for the 'local' consumption ( making the pakistanis happy )---. Other than that t was a wasteful act---.

When you are the enemy---and have no position of strength---then no one wants to hear you---and specially if you are the only one speaking that language and understanding it as well---then the people that you need to convey the message to---they are not interested is listening to your translation.

Atyipcal pakistani thing---from a position of strength---he opted to start from a position of weakness---.

The inticacies and the innuendos of the urdu language made the pakistanis strut around---but had no reflection on the severity of the message---.

So as per your logic, every country that delivered the speech in their own language was worthless?

Mughals took an active role in developing Urdu. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. Its well documented. I am not denying the Delhi link though.

Great observation. Speeches in a national language are solely for domestic consumption - who else would appreciate it?

Why go all the way to meet people only to speak to them in a language they don't understand? Unless you don't care about them and just want to impress your buddies at home.

He is an actor.
He made a wrong career choice

He is also a troll but not retired.
You should also read how Shah Mahmood Qureshi (grandfather of this troll) assisted British Raj and took part in the murder of Rai Ahmed Khan Kharral.

I thought about it. Well Indians got reply and they should be able to understand it directly without any need for translation. Secondly, I think a vetted copy of translation is distributed among the diplomats. For more impact, it should have been the PM delivering the speech. I'm sure all concerned people would have listened to or read the translation. Furthermore, India-Pakistan dragged it through objections and counter-objections so all concerned would have noticed. Rest, most of the world does not care or even knows about UNGA sessions and who said what...May be Trump's funny and humiliation clip will get more attention.

Hi,

Here is how to look at it---. This is WAR---. You have a WEAPON---how are you going to use it----?

Shah Mahmood is a very handsome man---very well dressed---extremely articulate and well mannered---and on top of that---extremely well spoken with an extremely pleasant personality---he is in that age group where where women fall for the guy and men are impressed---.

So---what are the chances of the people present in the arena listening to him speak---very very high---.

if you listen to his diction---choice of words and vocabulary---you would be impressed---you would be impressed by his mannerism.

Israelis have tried it very hard and have come up with an Israeli ambassador who speaks without a yiddish accent---looks american---and sounds pleasing to the ear---and looks pleasing to the eye---.

Our agent has the same or better characteristics---but due to our arrogance---we chose not to use his talent to the best of his ability---.

So as per your logic, every country that delivered the speech in their own language was worthless?

Hi,

You don't have the ability yet to understand what I stated---. When you get to that pleateau---knock on the door-.

@war&peace

Enjoy this video---. When I wrote this some 10 years ago on this board---no one could understand what I was saying---.

At least someone did a decade later---

Secretly, I was wishing to see the transcript of his speech translated in English and other languages. The selection of his words was beautiful and a perfect balance between good diplomatic language but also conveyed the strong message but how much was lost in the translation?

I think we should more objectively analyse it and see the impact. Otherwise, next year he can deliver the speech in English.

I liked this interaction
