Why Pakistan Army desperate for New tank

. .
Salam Alaikum bro,
Could you shed some light on the bold part please?

AK III project might be revealed next year... It's been in the works since long... Financial issues has put the project in the back burner... But the defence committee has already announced that (yesterday)... According to interviews (with Janes) HIT spokesperson had already given hints like 6-10 major changes in the tank... Armour, engine etc... What the end product is ... We will have to wait to see that...

As for Turkish Altay... There were reports of HIT buying some systems (imagery systems) used in Altay fir AK.. Because ;

I)the systems were comparable to the ones we get from France.
II)Turkish systems were also affordable as compared to tge French.

The older types night still be replaced by sbither foriegn tank.... But AK will remain our workhorse!

i love reading your posts for obvious reasons :D

But such selection processes take such a long time... Old timers checking, double checking .. :)

Will gladly buy Turkish weapons if it meets our requirement. Pakistan presents a challenging terrain and conditions for any tank to operate in. Sizzling hot dusty deserts are where many modern tanks face problems. Then you have dense Web of water channels in agricultural north and marshy south in Pakistan. Both have loose soft soil especially in rainy season. Was Altay built to handle these conditions? You can better inform us.

Friends why PA is so desprate for bew tank when we have wide range of tanks

AK 1
AK 2
T 80UD
AL ZARRAR
With these tanks we can go next 10 years with no probleum and with AK 3 in blue prints why need to invest on another beast when we need 8x8 wheeled APC and we need to replace 3 decades old Assault rifleswhy miss use limited funds on things which we dont need desprately
G-3 is also to be replaced ... A committee was formed by the army for that purpose...
Pakistan should test South Korean Tank also.

Altay will be suitable for all conditions. Even for your soils, his Transmission and his future Engine will make it to handle easier but actually even the MTU Engine is enough.

But even a Car can stuck in mud or not ? ^^

Exactly, this Beast Altay is much better and more powerful heavy machine, I wish it should induct in our inventory. Pakistan must work together with Turkey.

Pakistan has already lost its interests in Al-Khalid I/II, MBT 3000, Oplot, and many failed tanks in many of the world.

Army requires 1200 modern MBTs. So far they have 400 AKs and 380 T80s. So 400 further tanks are required. The AZ which number 300 are really not front line material. Local AK production is only 50 tanks per year due to no Upgradation of the production lines. So army is always on the lookout for a quick purchase to meet the numbers.

We have just 500 Alkhalid Tanks.

The other two are older and much weaker Tanks.

This is as opposed to Indian 3700 + Tanks out of which 1300 are Arjun Tanks and T-90 and 2400+ of T-72

We are woefully lacking armour and that is why we speak of using tactical nukes against Indian onslaught.

.
Recently Pakistan did purchase almost 300 old tanks that are upgraded one..i think they are from Serbia ...

.
Pakistan is looking for light weight combat tank. Market is full of heavy weights. Pak terrain need light and effective combat machines. Army rejected M1A1 long time ago, because of its weight and other multiple factors...
Wait, we were ever offered Abraham tanks? o_O
