Why everyone is out to discredit ISI?

Depends on who you mean by 'People'. Other countries attack the ISI because it is effective, it is the thorn in their sides which is disrupting their footholds in the region, it is not allowing them to fulfil their goals. That's why people hate Mossad as well, because like it or not, they are very successful in protecting national interests and thwarting enemy plans against their state.
If you wonder why some 'Pseudo-Intellectuals' among ourselves like grilling the ISI, well that's because we have a slavish mindset, when we hear everyone else talking, using big words like: 'Human Rights', 'Strategy', 'Tactics', 'Proxy', 'Non-State Actor', 'Double Agent'. We want to use them too to try and come off as real smart people, they actually manage to come off as rather poorly intellectually endowed dumbasses!

ISI follows national policies, in the 80s it was national policy to support the Mujahideen, so they did.

who made the policies, infact who mismanaged and screwed up?

Anyway, there is no doubt that an intelligence agency is the eyes of the country, but as far as the role of Army and ISI is concern, its pretty shameful with respect to human rights, violation of laws of the country, abducting, killing of political leaders and political activists and above all damaging the state institutions by its forceful dominance over the affairs of the state...

ISI and Army should be brought under the scrutiny of the Law.

Zia, still not ISI.

Same old banter...

ISI and Army are under the scrutiny of law already in fact, they are more law abiding than any citizen, unlike you or the other 170 million of our people, they pay taxes!

national policy yeah right .....All were dictators, costed the country 40K dead pakistanis until now ... i dont know what was the count in 80's additionally intro of herione , Akz and millions of illegal afghans ... these people either are plain stupid or simply dont give a $hit , either way they are bad for the country .. GOP must wrap a patta round the neck of these dogs

Non of you actually know how ISI or any intelligence outfit Works (with the exception of few) . all your knowledge is based on the propaganda by countries/ Intelligence Agencies who have failed to subdue ISI , Right now the one chance they have of actually damaging ISI is through its own people , & our People like Idiots Blindly follow what others say , we never question & never think with our own minds.

How Good ISI is , ask Raw/Cia/Mossad/Mi6/Khaad/KGB(FSB) who ISI is fighting to make sure people of Pakistan live safely & Pakistan does not turn into , Libya/Syria/Afg/Iraq .

In War there are No Rules , there are No Human Rights , it is Either you Kill or you get Killed , ISI Kills before it gets hurt , & the people it Kills are no Saints , They are like Akbar bhugtii Traitors who have sold their souls to the highest bidder . however since people have no knowledge & are manipulated by the politicians we dont see the other side of the picture .

Trust Me , The day ISI stopped looking after you , this country will turn into Hell you have never witnessed yet.

I actually pity people like you , Who sit in your chair passing comments, with No Knowledge , no information , No idea how things work,

The Ground Realities are very harsh , very very harsh.

The policies although short-sighted did save of us from a Soviet Invasion.

First of all ISI's scope of activities is based on countering foreign elements whereas the TTP and BLA are home grown.
Secondly, the ISI has adapted well to the requirements of today's Pakistan and it is a great achievement that we have subdued the TTP within such a short time and that too in the middle of the militant bad lands, Sri Lanka, an island took over 26 years to defeat the LTTE.

Some of the comments made by ppl from Pk are truly surprising !

One thought the ISI was idolized in Pak.

So when you cant find proof , you blame the nearest guy available ?

It is not ISI's Job to Fight in Front line's . Their Job is different , one you cannot understand . as i said before you know Nothign & yet you Blame ISI as if you have wrote their Rule book .

Tell me do you even know Name if One Agent , who gave his life on the Field ? , do you know how much Torture an ISI Agent faces ? Do you know How long it takes for them to even see their Families ? let alone spend time with them ?

You Dont , So STOP Criticizing an institution who is actually doing something for you , They are the ones who have stopped politicians to actually Sell this country , they interfear when they know there is no other choice , If you do your Job Right ( Judging the Politicians ) they would not have to do it for you.

You blame your own Incompetency on others & fell like saints , when it is other way around ?

Na, our people need to prove their 'Enlightened Minds' by shitting all over their most efficient institutions. When everything else is based on inefficiency and corruption, an institution actually working overtime comes as an eyesore to many people.

I have observed that military apologists have found this notion "Blame Zia" quite useful..

The fact remains, that the ISI has become the bogeyman both home and abroad.

Its a bogeyman abroad because it was the supporter and controlling factor for many militant outfits today that have been branded as terrorists.. But this was the task assigned to it by those that took those decision in Rawalpindi.
And for all the insensitivity of the statement, one must credit it for doing a very good job of it.

It is a bogeyman at home due to its involvement in many political scandals and power moves since that was the task assigned to it by the circles of power.

But at the same time, its the ISI that has prevented countless...and I mean countless efforts by the US, Israel , India, A large section of Europe.. and other to subvert, disrupt and dismantle Pakistan's nuclear program. It has blunted efforts by "well-wishers" and neighbours of Pakistan to create havoc in the nation via bomb blasts, target killings and the like.
It routinely provides intelligence to the police on possible terrorist activities day in and day out.
It routinely provides intelligence on the activities of our allies in the WoT to monitor and document sensitive sites in Pakistan under the guise of NGO's and "lost our way" excuses.
The ISI for all its ills, was.. and still is.. one of the best intelligence services in the world.
Its job was to provide information to those that are supposed to take decisions based on the information and By god it does it well!.
However, if those in power.. those taking the decisions.. do not have the sincerity, the humility, the courage or the IQ to take the best decision with that information..its no excuse to hold the ISI responsible for it.

Najam Sethi for example. this idiot seems to has forgotten how Gen Musharraf saved his hide while the Amir Al Momineen of Business league in his last government want the army to make him disappear and then "court martial" him. indeed.
if Gen Musharraf had gone ahead with the request then ISI would have nailed that grinning imbecile so badly that he would have lost his signature "know it all grin" forever.

I have observed that military apologists have found this notion "Blame Zia" quite useful..

It is quite useful.. but I think the blame starts with Ayub Khan..The man who brought the military into power and took its greatest asset : Professionalism at the highest level . and made a mockery out if it.
Zia was a product of that beginning, and so is every other gold braided one that takes power.
However, there are examples of those that did stick to their principles... as there are of those in politics.(Asghar Khan).
The question is, how much of our national character has turned to rot that we are now a nation in shambles.

When what is supposed to be the best of you.. Your military, your core institution's.. turned into puppets or tainted with corruption like the rest of the thieves ruling the roost. Then you truly are a nation running on the good graces of god.

ISI and Army should be brought under the scrutiny of the Law.

this discussion and any proposal to improve the workings and bringing it according to the constitution and law should remain within the confines of Pakistan. brought up by Pakistanis, discussed with Pakistanis, proposed, amended and decided by Pakistanis

not by people from a country like USA that invades a country after every 3 or 4 years. A country like India that itself has dismal human rights record and is on record reported by human rights watch and amnesty international for grave atrocities by its agencies and forces.

I have observed that military apologists have found this notion "Blame Zia" quite useful..

we prefer the term "Pakistan apologists".

yea bring it on. already know your response.
