Which type of tank is more suitable for Pakistan?

There are confirmed reports of M1 Abrams being disabled by a single RPG 29 shot. The could be due to a hit on the tracks or other more vulnerable part.

Hi,

It is not about the heavy armour---it is about the special armour that the american tank had that made the difference.

the reason heavey tanks ie 55 tonnes is because they all carry heavey armour ARJUN CARRIES KACHEN ARMOUR SUPERIOR TO ALL OTHERS including T90 as proven in recent trials

HIS KING BEAST and like the chinease T99 elite regiments THE ARJUN will be equiping INDIAN elite regiments

and used in RAJASTHAN sector

i think t72 is a good tank

I once saw a video showing a Syrian T-72 being one-shotted by some dude with an RPG-29. LITERALLY one-shotted! A catastrophic kill!

Mastan was talking about the depleted uranium (DU) armor on the American M1 Abrams (they are hard to beat).

Nishan it looks to puney . Needs s heavier look like the t99 leopard challenger and the arjun

The one that has armor made up of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif's hide. Sala. Koi bhee cheez ussay penetrate nahin karr sakti. We should study it by skinning them alive. No malicious intent here. Just for educational purposes.

I heard that Pakistan was once offered the M1 Abrams back in the 80's. It was rejected because it was too heavy for Pakistani terrain.

So they went for developing the Type-90 family with China.
Compare ground pressure (kg per square cm), not overall weight

T-92 0,9kg/cm2
T-90 0.91 kg/cm2
T-80U 0.92 kg/cm2
T-84 0.93 kg/cm2
M1 0.95 kg/cm2
M1A1 1.05 kg/cm²
M1A2 1.09 kg/cm²
Leopard 2A4 0.83 kg/cm sq
Leopard 1A4 0.88 kg/cm2

The Leopard exerts a low ground pressure , primarily due to its broader base and tracks...

Firing down and from the rear, no doubt. Not so likely when engaging frontally. INcidentally applies for all manner of MBTs.

In Raj we don't need bridges, and IN karachi , Bridges can take 55 Tonne weight. ;) Plus tanks are designed to cross small canals.

I dont think so.

:cheesy:

moreover.. only a tactical and strategic Idiot will try to enter Karachi.
Unless he wishes for his troops and tanks to become target practice.

A clever person will bypass Karachi and only keep a few mech inf companys to hold Port Qasim.

From the advent of tanks in First WWI, every tank design is based on 3 factors:

1. Protection
2. Fire-power
3. Mobility

These 3 factors are balanced by the designers to cater the needs of their terrain. Cold war era Soviet's philosophy was based on numbers, speed and firepower. Hence they design T-72 with less protection but better speed. Its smaller size has both advantages and disadvantages. On the other hand US doctrine was somewhat different, so they come up with M1 Abrams. They were huge, more protection.

Pakistanis rejected M1 in late 80's due to number of factors. At that time, their thermal imaging and other electronics goodies got failed in bitter heat of Bahawalpur deserts. Fine dust of desert choke down the "turbine engine" of M1 quickly.
Country like Pakistan simply cant afford such high maintenance cost that are affiliated with M1.

So we design our own tank which suits our needs. Al-Khalid has a beautiful balance of protection, fire power and mobility.

PS: The Indians who dream of a future war, where Indian Army's tanks will be driving through Pakistan like taxi cabs roaming in Mumbai are plain fools. Such people don't know a **** about tank warfare.
