What's new

What's the role of Qaher aircraft?

Also, Iran could try developing regional passenger plane with Chinese help. I think something like Yak-40 would work with Owj engine because of similar thrust between Owj and engine used in Yak-40.

General characteristics

  • Crew: 3 (two pilots, one flight mechanic)
  • Capacity: 32 passengers
  • Length: 20.36 m (66 ft 10 in)
  • Wingspan: 25 m (82 ft 0 in)
  • Height: 6.5 m (21 ft 4 in)
  • Wing area: 70 m2 (750 sq ft)
  • Empty weight: 9,400 kg (20,723 lb)
  • Max takeoff weight: 15,500 kg (34,172 lb)
  • Powerplant: 3 × Ivchenko AI-25 turbofan engines, 14.7 kN (3,300 lbf) thrust each
Performance

  • Cruise speed: 550 km/h (340 mph, 300 kn) at 7,000 m (22,966 ft) max cruise
  • Range: 1,800 km (1,100 mi, 970 nmi)
  • Service ceiling: 8,000 m (26,000 ft) [100]
  • Rate of climb: 8 m/s (1,600 ft/min)

our first +150 passenger plane will fly in 3-5 years we are working on this passenger plane for 10 years i think and we are building its engines. Iran is building air planes for 30 years now but this is our first big jet powered passenger plane. we are building turbocharged engines with 35,000 lb of thrusts.

Assalamu Alaikum.
I understand that it's supposed to be an stealth aircraft. But what's the role it's gonna play? Close air support?I doubt it'll be air superiority as Iran has no experience building an air superiority jet yet.CAS seems viable as it has been producing such aircrafts for a while.
Hoping to learn more from the more knowledgable members.
hello bro, it will be a light stealth fighter.

That bent wing is very poor design. I don't think it can even fly. The bent wing will deflect the air in the wrong direction. I don't see why would someone bend the wings of a plane downwards
most fighters have their wingtip downed, in this qaher prototype it's a bit radical but in other protos it was almost straight.

Qaher is a fifth generation fighter prototype...There is a long way before it will turn into a real fighter
I don't think it can even be classified as a 5th generation fighter jet prototype . Maybe it's just a platform for Iran to test some of its new tech.
Iran needs to develop a credible/viable 4th generation fighter jet before even venturing into a 5th generation one. So far their air force is one of the weakest/most backward in the entire region. They need to upgrade their air force ASAP.

Is this for real....fantastic. I can't believe they've advanced so much that they're confident enough to tackle a 737 size jet...bravo!

yes its for real

The first flight of an Iranian passenger aircraft in the next 3 to 5 years

The aircraft is similar to Airbus planes, is designed to accommodate 168 passengers, measuring 38.5 meters long, 12.28 meters high, 37.5 meters wide and 126 square meters. The take-off weight of the aircraft is 76.7 tonnes, its operating weight is 42.3 tonnes, its cargo weight is 17.6 tonnes and its maximum cargo weight is 20.5 tonnes and its range will be 3850 km.

The four prototypes will cost about $ 2 billion to build and will cost around $ 90 million if mass-produced.

This plane has lots of potential as an AWACS, ELINT, EW, maritime patrol, aerial refueler, transport, cargo, C2 or even firefighting.

Iran has the base technology to make all these possible, the only stuff remaining are the plane itself, and a good, reliable working design based on the plane for all the above roles. And iran really needs such planes in numbers.

agreed, well the good thing is we have a plan no matter how much time it takes we know were the plan is headed sooner or later all the sub company is going to be built as we are going to progress more and more and be a player in this field.

let's wait to see it actually FLY first...and no joke to iranian friends, we actually DO look forward to it flying...
