Good question.. But a little redundant.. MMRCA is a part of the whole modernization exercise Indian Armed forces are running with..

e.g.

Mirage upgrades to France
MIg 29 upgrade to France
Sub deal to France
Jaguar upgrade (probably to France)
40 Addnl Su 30 to Russia
29 Mig 29 MK to Russia
Renegotiated deal for Aircraft carrier to Russia
Pak-FA (Mother of all deals)
Brahmos (Russia)
Additional Phalcons to Israel
C 10 GlobeMaster to USA
Nuclear Reactors to French and US and Russia (not really military though)
Howitzers to USA
Tankers - Probably to US or France
Engines for LCA to US

Now which partner out of the above would go for the relatively smaller market in Pakistan and risk the options available here..

This MMRCA has raised as many eyebrows during the last couple of years.and especially when 123 deal popped up on the table.

But one thing is sure that,MRCA has both technical and political considerations.

And for you, Russia knows that it is out of the game.Introducing Mig-35 as a contendor is only to leverage other contendors. Indo-Russian strategic ties are not that simple as what an ordinary person conceives.Though I have to check down some high level strategic co-operation between the both, the relation is an all weather and time tested.
If some one says this ,then instantly a joe and jack brings the Gorshkov file.But it is quiet essential to review the whole deal,which ofcourse is not just the anchored ship.Its a combined deal for 2 nuke subs,consultancy for Arihant and follow-on class,Aircraft carrier,MIGs and other classified items.

If the deal is just a buyer and seller relationship,India might have opted out a way back when the cost escalated.But its far more than that and these jungali babus dont let you know whats the whole thing is about. The russian participation for MRCA has been already compensated.

And people do have to understand what the main idea behind the deal is.Its not just aircraft.Its more than that.And you will understand the main reason only in 2012.
And f-16IN will never be an Indian fighter.India is again in no mood to let these american sentrys guard the IAF bases and log a detailed flying mission report.

That aircraft that brings in both technology and adds value in other aspects is only an european fighter.

There is nothing the other 5 participants can do after being kicked out.US and Russians have been already compensated with both military and civilian deals as well as french. It is only that the country that wins the deal will keep production line working while making publicity for future offers.

Just like the recent VVIP chopper deal which gave life to 4000 employees.

The fruits of MRCA have already been noticed in India.After all,it is a good timing even after long delays.

This deal is part of just 5% of the total $350 Billion we want to spend on Defence+Energy inthe next decade.

None of the nations will risk the 95% part which they have to fulfill.

India has a lot of money to spend in the next few years. It can easily influence decisions of countries that it buys weapons from. If Pakistan can spend $1 Billion, India has the power to spend $10 billion. Who has the most money wins.
Pakistan will keep buying cheap inferior Chinese weapons for a long time. Think about getting your economy back on track if you wish to pursue better weapons in the future.

Wrong...India can affect your deals if it wants...though not in all cases(china).But I dont think India will try it.Its busy with its own modernisation process.

what kind of discount you are looking for??? All the countries donot give free items like US and on soft loans like China.
Only money talks here, you give more money and you get the things. No one is affecting global politics.

I am not too sure if J 11 is in PAF's near future.. Some research and links will be appreciated
