What is your mother tongue ? What other languages you can read, write and speak ?

mother tongue : tulu
can read, write & speak ; Kannada, Hindi, English
can speak : Punjabi
understand & can speak (not so fluently) : gujarati, malayalam, marathi.
 
I can speak,read, write Pushto, that I learnt first as a child even though I was in Punjab most of the time,
I can speak,read,write Urdu, English,
Only strangely read, write and understand (to some degree) Arabic
I can speak, understand Hindi (thanks to my mom who tortured me with Indian serials as a child)
I can speak Punjabi, understand most of it (thanks to my mates)
Also took an online course in basic Spanish (giving some ability) if that counts....

Konkani is spoken by two sets of people with slight difference in the language between the two, down in Karnataka. One is goud saraswat bahmins & others being Catholics. Which konkani do you speak?
 
Gentlemen/Ladies,

I am fascinated about languages, I couldn't find any thread pertaining to thread title so starting this thread.

There are many languages I haven't even heard of, I am sure PDF has visitors from all over globe and would be interested to know more about the languages the members speak.

Mother tongue- Telugu
I can speak Fluently:- Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, English.
I can read-Hindi ,English.
I can write- Hindi ,English.

so it seems the chennai dude cant read or write tamil!!:p:
LOL!...The only Indian language that I can read or write is Hindi!...See we people from Chennai know Hindi. Not my fault..While growing up My Mom is from Bangalore, My dad from Vellore..My mother tongue was Telugu..bought up in Chennai..it was very confusing and to top that off All of us at home always conversed in English.
 
Can read write punjabi same in english can speak hindi aswell but writing it would be at a childs level.
