What's new

What caused overpopulation in Pakistan?

Haramkhor mullahs and Jalahat hand in hand. On top, our politicians and their benefactors in the establishment also feed on this very jahalat. Agar paraha likha bashoor Pakistan ho ga to inha vote kon da ga.

Population isn’t the problem. It can be an asset if educated, trained and employed properly. Pakistan has more than enough natural resources and land to feed it’s growing population. Issue is mismanagement and corruption.

It's mostly about people having the free time to have a lot of sex. Overpopulation is directly proportional to the laziness of our population. They're in bed at 9pm. What's gonna happen? Yes, sex.

Lack of sex education, lack of contraception, lack of education on family planning and birth control. Take your pick.

Purely on the matter of space, here is a good video that explains if the world population was to live in one city, how big the city should be. Now that depends on what kind of city you are talking about. It gives helpful references :

  1. A city with the same density as New Orleans - You would require a city the size of US. Hmm....
  2. A city with the same density as Austin - You would require a city the size of Australia
  3. A city with the same density as Chicago - You would require a city the size of Iran. Not bad eh? Hey Persians, move over and make some Chicago style space for the rest of us.
  4. A city with the same density as Singapore - You would require a city the size of Texas + Oklahoma + Louisiana
  5. A city with the same density as Manhattan - You would require a city the size of Ecuador
  6. A city with the same density as Manila - You would require a city the size of Missouri state

Now wait, it gets better !

  1. A city with the same density as Dharavi - You would require a city just the size of New Jersey state
  2. A city with the same density as Kowloon Walled City - You would require a city the size of Palestine. The whole world in Palestine!

So friends, to conclude, food may be a problem, space is not 🤣

For more adventurous people, if you want to transport the entire population of earth to another planet, its not difficult. You just need a cube of size 4km x 4km x 4km. It will have enough space for a sleeping pod for every person. We just need to figure out an engine that can lift the damn thing 🚂

Uhhmn they are like rabbits!!!

Nobody talks or writes of agriculture. We got way too much fertile land:
Pakistan can increase it's agricultural land by 100%
Increase in per acre production to 300-400%

It has 140MAF of water on average.

Yet it's productivity 6X less then California who has water availability of 40MAF.

decreasing your propulation won't fix your productivity problem but it may however create a delimma of being old while poor..

This can be devastating as we are seeing in srilanka and some other countries.

You want first get rich and then old ...(that too is not a good thing but mangable; Japan)..but getting old and still being poor is a disaster in waiting

So instead of crying about population cry about mismanagement

Population will decrease itself once you develop..it's ahrd to convince women to have kids

Sindh Punjab(thal/that) can be irrigated very easily as long as we fix our water usage.

Parts of Balochistan too..other parts may require huge investment if we want to irrigate it

Pakistan problem canals aren't lined and flood irrigation

It's so bad that foreigner utter WTF when they see our system.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

They can't believe when we explain to them we are losing land due to over watering I e water clogging 🤦🤦🤦🤦

Are you f***ing kidding me???

Irrigate more land??? Add fuel to an already burning fire of overpopulation?

NO, NO & NO!

Overpopulation is one of the biggest issues in Pakistan.

You breed more, in turn you irrigate more agricultural land and the cycle continues. That’s screwed up. When would this be enough.

The strain it has on a country’s infrastructure. Pakistan really needs to focus on producing quality people. The numbers don’t matter.

I say cap every family to 3 kids. Make it illegal to marry below 22. Tax families having more than 3 kids. Even Ehsaas Program should void families having more than 3 kids.

The way Bangladesh brought down population is by educating it's women.

Educated women usually try to find work and are not dependent upon men for money. Since they are busy working they are not trying to produce babies, they have other priorities like improving their work skills, saving up for the future and making more money independent of men, such as working in an apparel factory.

Currently Bangladesh Total Fertility Rate (TFR) per woman is under 2.0 kids, which is lower than India's.

Not that India is great to compare ourselves to, but Indian Sanghis constantly harp on Muslims having too many kids which is a false stereotype.

If not for canal colonies most of the area between Chenab and Ravi rivers which includes most of the TT Singh and Faisalabad districts and parts of other districts and areas east of Ravi like sahiwal vehari etc and many other districts would be sparsely populated areas British canal colony policy is responsible for overpopulation at least in Punjab province
Punjab is 40% of Pakistan and lots of people from other provinces moved to Punjab during this canal colony rush - they had plenty of fertile lands, not enough people and the plan was to feed British India from the breadbasket
many Baloch tribes were given land by brits, big migration from Doaba(in inidan punjab now), and Kashmiris moved to punjab to the point where there are more Kashmiris in punjab than the kashmir valley itself- but were not allowed to buy land

Pakistan and especially Punjab would be a totally different place without canal colonies

sindh also had it although not to the same transformative level as that in the north - many ethnic Punjabis migrated to sindh during the britsh era , I think some MPAs from interior Sindh are also ethnic Punjabi who speak it as their first language and Sindhi as outside one

I wish I can find a good book on it, its one of the most fascinating and transformative events of the modern history of Pakistan, we would probably be a totally different place without it
