What's new

What About : 40, Su-35 BM for Stratageic Forces Command ( India ) ?

Now thats someone who thinks like me..No need to get Sukhois when we can have dedicated supersonic Bombers like this..
10 of these will be enough for us .. A squad of MRCA to escort them will also be needed...

Read post #125.Even this plane's now old. PAK DA is the real deal. Supposed to be an advanced version of TU-160.
BTW India had at one time leased 4 tu22m3. Currently it also has MIG 29 fighter bombers in it's base in Tajikisthan.

That base is operating without any fighters as of now.

Bhai saab, I know this .. But the question is if PAK-DA will be available to us before 2030-2035 ..? It is supposed to fly in 2025..
Tu-160 is the only possible solution if we really require a bomber..We can get some relatively newer airframes with lot of life left in them..

The money involved in spectrum scam alone can fund another MMRCA deal. Just yesterday Kerala Police DIG said that the 'money chain scam' in our state involves upto 1000 crore rupees. The only silver lining is that the money is not lost from state exchequer but from private investors.

See what can be done with that spectrum money, if used properly..

So if we spend money properly without allowing such scams, Indian people's life standard will be ..............(words not enough to say).........

i am not in favour of separate new aircraft for SFC..
SFC can pickup few aircrafts from all nuclear capable squadrons like su 30mki, mig 29, mirage 2000-5
so that enemy will b never sure of which aircraft got the nuke package ...
May be every other mki/mirage/rafale/jaguar has the chance to get nuke weapons other than these 40 fighters!!!

Is it just me or does 40 state of the art fighters seem like overkill? I mean they are there for dettrance but what would they actually do on a day to day basis (as I don't think nuclear wars are a regular occurrence) sit in hangers and gather dust? It seems like an utter waste of an aircraft as capable as Rafele/Su35 etc to be designated purely for this mission. And again why 40? I believe this is enough for 2 SQDs why not 1? 40x state of art fighter is a powerful force. I think it would be much better if 40 were procured but were operated for IAF but were nuclear strike capable-no need for SFC to have "mini-Airforce" (I don't believe ANY other country has anything like this, even US).

But I believe that if this goes through it will just be an add on to MMRCA (which already looks like it is to significantly increase so it is to be a HUGE deal) which means total MMRCA could be 240-300 planes! It is no coincidence that Dassault offered 40 Rafele (which is nuclear-strike capable) in quick time not long after this RFI by SFC was announced.

Its a costly affair to station fighters away from the country, two bases in Tajikistan never stationed any Indian fighters. That's for war emergency.
Add this:
Also Russia is not intersted for us to have a base there.

Any update on Ayni and Farkhor bases?

Even wars dont happen regularly but we still maintains fighter jets and buying more.

A 2 squadron strength for completing the nuke triad is a good move.
IAF will have only pilot training and maintenance responsibilities . The new squad has to be under seperate control.

we have 4 tu 22m bombers which we leased from Russia in 2001.

Know why no fighters there? Of course maintainence problem and high costs.
But why we have a base there?
Good strategy: Our fighters start here , bomb the enemy and it wont return for home base. After attack, it flies on Afgan air space for not more than 2 minutes at Mach2 speed and they will land in Tajak base gets fueled and reloaded with arms. Again attacks the enemy.

After all this discussion it seems a heavy strike fighter like Su 30MK with AESA radar will be the best choice.I would have told about Rafale but it lacks the range.AURA or AVATAR would have been the best choice if they were ready.
REGARDS....

Ayani is under Russian control(as per Tajik official statement) and India is still operating Mi-17s from Farkhor according to last updates.
