My 'prison' is about 3000 sq/ft, not counting a 2 car garage with attached small workshop, on a .24 acre lot. In this 'prison', I can go anywhere I want, see anyone I want, eat clean food, drink clean water, etc...

How about you in your 'free' India? The way I see it, your India's low prison population simply mean two things: what is a crime in the US is normal in your India, such as the evil caste system that encourages bigotry and hate, and that Indians are good at getting away with crimes.
