Russian Airlines Sends Plane To Iran For Maintenance Due To US, EU Sanctions

You think one spent millions and millions and mencraft and specialists into a F-14 flight simulator if the plane is no more used, no more active?

These are facts
USA and Iran are the only countries to have operated f-14s
f-14s have been retired from the US Navy a long time ago (I believe 2006 was the last one). the retirements started in the early 1990s
USA destroyed f-14s while retirement to make sure spares did not reach Iran
Numerous people have been arrested and convicted in US courts for selling f-14 components to Iran

Given the above facts there is a little in the way of f-14 parts available. If Iran wants to preserve their F-14 fleet they limit their flying time
One way to train your pilots and limit your lying time is to use simulators

I have not seen videos of f-14s flying demos to the Iranian public

Don't get me wrong Iran has a lot of smart people. But they all want to leave Iran

Russia’s largest carrier Aeroflot has been forced to send one of its Airbus A330-300s to Iran for repair due to crippling Western sanctions that not only ban Russian planes from and to Russia but also restrict the maintenance of aircraft owned by Russian airlines. For the first time, a Russian airline had no option but to send one of its aircraft A330-300 to Iran for repair, and maintenance by the Iranian airline Mahan Air, RBC reported. The Russian aircraft landed in the Islamic Republic on April 5.

In a statement released later, Aeroflot confirmed that the plane arrived in Iran and that Iran Mahan Air had "the necessary equipment and facilities, certificates and vast experience” to conduct the assigned tasks. The maintenance is expected to be performed “to a high level of quality," Aeroflot noted. After Russia invaded neighbouring Ukraine last February, the European Union and the US imposed hardening sanctions on the Russian airline industry.

As per the embargo, Russian aircraft are banned from entering the EU and the US airspace. The sale of spare parts, and maintaining and insuring planes are also effectively banned. The sanctions forced the international leasing companies to end all aircraft leases to Russian carriers and deny maintenance to the existing fleet.

Russia, Iran signed a bilateral agreement for aviation equipment supply in 2022

In July 2022, Russia and Iran signed a bilateral agreement for the supply of equipment and spare parts, repair and maintenance for Russia's aviation industry. The two allies have increased the number of passenger flights to and from Russia and Iran to an estimated 35 per week. As per the new agreement, the two countries now operate unlimited cargo flights without any capacity restrictions, and Iran also provides logistics services for supporting of Russian planes.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran and Moscow was announced by a spokesman for the Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation Mir-Akbar Razavi. The aviation deal was later followed by a separate agreement between Tehran and Moscow to supply Russia's invading forces in Kyiv with drones to sustain's Kremlin's war offensive that focuses on the conquer of the contentious eastern Donbass region.

This is significant. I didn't realise Iran was so advanced and comprehensive in aircraft production/maintenance capability.

How is that? Including other missile than aim-54

flying once is not a sign of maintenance

...but do implement an other missile in the system is ^^

"The Army Air Force managed to overhaul an F-14 fighter jet, which was grounded for 18 years, Commander of the Iranian Army Air Force Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi said. He added that the overhaul operations on the aircraft was conducted in the Air Force’s base in Isfahan over a period of three years. “Our enemies never thought we could overhaul this aircraft and use it after years, seeing its very complicated maintenance,” General Vahedi said. He added that thousands of parts of the fighter plane were replaced or repaired during the overhaul process. “From a to z of the repair and maintenance process was carried out by domestic experts and we needed [the help of] no foreign company,” General Vahedi said."

You will be surprised how they can build exact copies or functionally similar parts for any aircraft if you have:
Material analysis tools such as Scanning electron microscope and $$$ to spend on a reverse engineering of a part that you only need less than 200 or 300 of them .
Most of electronic parts in F14 were analog that you can not even find in any market today..All electronic parts can easily and efficiently be replaced by equivalents in digital lower Weight and lower power consumption and higher performance...Iran did that and came up with F14 AM .They even digitized the maverick AA missile that were bought with the aircraft.

Iranian airline proposes to open an aviation hub in Dagestan

Iranian airline proposes to open an aviation hub in Dagestan

Representatives of the Iranian airline consider Dagestan as a region, due to its geographical location, suitable for opening a new aviation hub. The hub will include, among other things, an aircraft repair facility. This was reported by the press service of the government of the republic.

During the meeting of the Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov with representatives of the Iranian airline Private joint stock company "Pars Golden Sky", the Iranian side made a proposal to open a new aviation hub The project also includes the creation of an aircraft and spare parts repair facility and the organization of a cargo hub. The Iranian authorities consider Dagestan as the Russian region most suitable for the creation of this facility due to its territorial proximity.

It is assumed that the implementation of this project will increase the number of international flights and destinations available for passenger and cargo transportation. New jobs will also be created, and new investments will be attracted to the region.

The Iranian company also expressed its readiness to provide its certified personnel, as well as its equipment and management system for the creation of this maintenance organization.

In response, the Government of the Republic of Dagestan proposed a set of measures aimed at supporting an international company

Istanbul, Minsk and Moscow are European and do you knew why the rest of the flights stopped, let just say it had something to do with USA than airworthiness and certificates

Interestingly, Russia built the first ever passenger plane.

China makes F-14 spare parts. Hell, China cloned entire MiG-21 as J-7, Su-27 as J-11, Su-33 as J-15, Su-30 as J-16.

Has it ever crossed your mind, how could Iran keep its F4-5-14 plus Mig-29 still flying despite the sanctions?
By cannibalizing other jets for spares....the fleet of each type has constantly dwindled over time.....except mig 29 which is russian.

They also have a very big black market/smuggling net work for spare, which with time has become harder n harder to operate due to various reasons.

But if Iran after all this time can now bring all the types back to full strength to pre revolution days then good luck tonthem

Iranians claims more then wt it can deliver.
Using a couple of jets for spare parts was done during the 8 years war with Iraqi airforce.

Today from avionics to engine parts of F-14 are completely localized by Iran except for semi-conductor and other high tech electrical components which are being imported from East Asian countries. For your information the radar of F-14 has gone from analogue to digital era. Everybody with a little OSINT info about fighter jets know that the primary versions of GE-F110 engine used in Iranian Tomcats were badly problematic and required some components be replaced after every flight. The concept of need is mother of all inventions forced Iran into completely localizing that engine. Otherwise you would have witnessed crushing of F-14s every week in Iran due to engine failure of old and problematic F-110s.
