What's new

Vixen-1000E AESA with IRST showcased at IDEAS

yeah but thats not good enough is it? how much of this would be either european or americain tech?
DubaiSat-1 built by Satrec Initiative which is a south korean company and launched buy the russains in kazakstan

why dont you actually activley work to build your own heck even sub systems you gotta start somwhere. you got the cash to invest in the tech. all you need is the manpower.
Are you done or is there more ..........?

There are many things which needs to discussed, elaborated, challenged and then hammered out...but not in open forum... Before you know it will be hijacked and only negativity and insults towards Pak and Pak Friends will ensue.

Whenever, you would like to have my input on matters related to economy, innovation, social development, geopolitics, diplomacy and defence... you can tag me... be it in the context of GCC/UAE or Pak specific... any input I can provide... will be with pleasure.

Your Emiratisation...how is it going?

With PAF commiting to the RD93 and MRO facilities being setup, it's hard to imagine Pakistan going for the EJ200. It's an excellent choice alongside the Italian AESA radars, but your country is satisfied simply with "good enough"
I think upgrading to the RD-33MK (or RD-93MA) would be more natural (if not expected), but the JF-17 wouldn't be the first plane to bind a Russian engine to Italian electronics, the MiG-35 did it first...

.
We have been following it's development from day one, there were a few things we felt were missing. Once they get worked out, an opportunity could very well rise.

EJ-200 , AESA, IRST, retractable IFR, would really make it quite formidable.
.

My dear friend,

Thank you for sharing the inevitable. Am I surprised? Not really...what is more worrying is your equity exposure...both SWF and private. All tied up.

But you are people of the desert.. generous, independent and wise. The Seven Pillars of Wisdom.
Was once in your UAE in autumn. What a great weather. The family loved the beach and the resort.

I just wish to see great collaboration between Pak-Turk-GCC. It is a Strategic Axis with Strategic Weapons. GCC should be in SCO.

Hope GCC fully joins CPEC and MIC of Pakistan. A better friend you can never have than Pak people/State.

So are you going to buy the Thunder?

Kind regards,

SPF

Good afternoon gentlemen,

It is a thanks giving day in the U S and happy thankks giving to you all.

@Khafee---I do not know what sort of participation does the UAE has in the JF17 program----but if it does not have any----it surely did miss the boat and missed on a great opportunity.

There is nothing that builds a stronger unity / bond than in field collaboration in building in building weapons of self protection visible to the public of both the nations---. Specially those weapons that are to be the pride of the nation---yes we did it---yes we build it---and yes we stood together in the building process.

A partnership of the UAE in this project would have been a fascinating induction which would also have opened up new technical horizons for the engineers and air force of the UAE.

UAE and other countries neighboring you---have not built up bonds of working together at the grass root levels as equals or as under dogs with pakistan---.

The induction of that process---where you have dug trenches together would have brought in camaraderie and friendship to level not known before---and I bet you that the UAE would have attained more out of the experience than would have pakistan---. The perception of the current and younger generation about them and pakistan would be different and vice versa---.

500 million dollars was chump change for the emirates---but the rewards would have been 100 times more.

The arab mindset of waiting and seeing must change now----they need to step out of their secure zone and start doing things. Their collaboration with pakistan / china for building major weapons systems would be an eye popping experience.

.
We can end up with both if it fits the bill.
Doubt it as technically maintenance will become a nightmare. As @Bilal Khan (Quwa) said it is most likely one or the other which will be chosen. Imust confess I like the amalgamated IRST OF THE Raven. Perhaps if we pushed hard enough the Chinese might come out with a KLJ7A with IRST. Since a lot of the inventory is Chinese I think PAF will continue on with the Chinese AESA .

Imagine an amalgamated Vixen + Skyward IRST + Elettronica ELT-568 EW/ECM (which use AESA-based TRMs).

My friend imagination of such nature has a cost. The cost must be right to make it worth while. That is where the Chinese will be hard to beat.
However if the Italians can match the price or win on capability or offer more in the form of local manufacturing then the sky is the limit. In any case if the order from one of the Gulf countries comes in it may well be associated with a weztern sourced and laden JFT probably only for export though.

07 November, 2013 - A 10 member delegation from UAE Defence Forces, led by Brig General Saif Jaber Saif Al-Aleeli visited PAC Kamra. Soon after arrival, the delegation called on Air Marshal Sohail Gul Khan, Chairman PAC Kamra. The delegation was briefed about the activities and facilities of PAC. All higher officials of PAC attended the briefing. The briefing was followed by a visit to the PAC Factories. The delegation appreciated the facilities which PAC had and expressed their views on future collaborations.

Sir what is the point of "Baygani shadi main abdullah dewana"? JF-17 was a Pak-China venture, add 10 other countries, and you have a recipe for failure. It is now maturing and PAC is independently integrating h/w. NOW is the time for us to take it seriously. As a user of cutting edge tech, we have been providing very useful feedback, hopefully Blk3 should be a very good bang for the buck.

As to our R&D, and industrial base - I cannot comment on a public forum.

Best Regards

Kind sir,

What you make of these developments coming up rather quickly....

French firm signing MoU with PAC/PAF. Italians never really left. EJ200 is there, ready to be sold, if/when money is available. French/Euro aviaonics/EW is really available now. Which will be competible for all of GCC fighters.

I mean if the JF is capable, which it abudently is, all the Euro tech additions make it really a platform suited for entire GCC.

GCC has an unspoken agreement...all their systems do work together. SA obviously is the leader of the pack.

Turkey needs to retire some of its fighters, inculding 16s.

They way I see it should the GCC defence planners go for JF17... JF18 will come in due time which will be the product of GCC-Turk-Pak axis with either Chinese or European collaboration.

GCC can easily absorb a couple of 100 JFs if not more.

What about your country? UAE can really benefit from JF and follow up programs.

Same goes for naval platforms...

Potential and benefits are truly immense.

Would the existing defence/strategic agreement between GCC and US allow the GCC to shop from Pak? (here no offence to you/your govs is intended. But reality is what it is. I do appologise if an offence is taken.)

Over to your thoughts.

Thank you.
The GCC can buy it from China or Pakistan, if from the latter is complicated , no one will oppose the sale from China.. So that is not a problem..
Further more, the Saudis seem to be quiet satisfied with the Chinese electronics, they want at least to keep it that way for some independence from the Western tech.. they might also chose to add any non-sanctionable western tech they can find and get its ToT..
