here is a question a real jargon. AESA has now been in the limelight and the offerings from China & Italy are on the table. But the question of HMD is still outstanding! Is the solution close to being made public?

I think that the HMD announcement will be made in 2017.

Well remember there is a lot of speculation that the KLJ-7A is actually derived from the ELM-2052 which if true would put it on par with Raven-ES05 of Gripen NG if not better. As Bilal Khan said it will matter on the package offered, and with Skyward and Britestar type systems leonardo would likely be the better package, but cost effectiveness will also be important.

Always good to have multiple options for radar choices, you can have a block 3 with 2 variation of AESA

I do admit the Chinese Radar just looked Bad Arss this appears a bit smaller in size , as I stated we could have 2 Variations of Thunder Block 3

PAF route can be for both systems , One for Export high end markets (Gulf) Italian ,other for local / low tier markets (Africa) Chinese .

I'm trying to understand something... Why would one need to integrate an ARH to a radar? In LOAL, couldn't the fighter talk to the missile via data-link? In that case, one would need something to interface the radar to the data link terminal. Otherwise, wouldn't the ARH seeker be used to lock directly?

Yeah, the Chinese are willing to work on anything with us. Including letting us have the entire source code for the KLJ-7 and everything else.So that right now there is a German base Radio, A South African system, A turkish Pod and various other electronics ready to go on the JF-17.

A crappy Chinese EW system was put onto the Mirages as an "upgrade" that was in ways worse than what they had original. A Chinese radio was almost inducted against the excellent ASELSAN system in use today because someone was about to get a big fat check.

That is a pointless challenge as it depends both on technical aspects and price points; Air Forces dont decide like 3 year olds as you are suggesting. Rather, lets do it better; if by 3 years the JF-17 still uses 50% of Chinese components we can do that.

How do you define 50% component. It is too subjective but rather you claimed so confident of Chinese release source code for radar and SD-10. Sure a big deal on foreign radar on JF-17 will be coming soon. 3 years is not a short time. If after 3years, still no news of anything. Interest of foreign radar in JF-17 is sure lost, just like the R 400 saga.

I think I make a fair bet.
