yeah it takes money, but it takes less money.

one thing people can easily forget when look at this is that china is in the middle of fierce industrial revolution, the cruel kind - the same as Dickens' 19 th century England, in which no matter the govt or the real estate private firms are making these ugly monsters, they unfortunately all share a common denominator - these concret buggers can save much more money than their traditional all-wood counterparts (or the re-deco works of them) with shocks and awes of internal main beams.

The thing is, many of those houses built during the Victorian era in the UK (Dickens' England) are still around. Back in those days, they were more or less shanty towns and slums and yet, nowadays, these Dickensian houses are worth tons of money, because one the one hand they do tell the history of a certain era and yet people found solutions to modernize them.

More nonsense from you
Either your timbers are treated or they possess wood qualites which can withstand termites

Do you want to keep these houses for the sake of cultural preservation? :fie:

Are you claiming that all the houses that have been torn down were infested with termites?

Whole villages or quarters?

We, too, have termite problems in Southern Germany and Southern Europe. I don't see whole villages being torn down, in fact, they are some of the best preserved villages in Europe.

This house is the most hilarious. What does a Roman column have to do with Chinese architecture or culture or tradition? It looks absolutely fugly, TBH.

Oh come on I thought you are better 8-)
I meant many villages are subject to the onslaught of bad weather, earthquake, insects, poor building material, dilapidated facilities so they are torn down for very good reasons :coffee::azn:

How do you know it is roman column ?
Chinese Traditional architecture uses a lot of column also, and most of them use nanmu or some other kinds wood.
It is extreme expensive , 99.9% Chinese people can not afford that kind of column.

And if you want to build a traditional chinese house , it will be very very expensive for us.

Forget about the material cost , the cost of labor will make you bankrupt.

The frist picture ,those clothes laid around on the ground ,what's that mean?

I guess Vietnamese still use solar energy for drying their rice or food. They could use that as mattress or they use that for cover a new created tiles.
