Villages across China

Present situation in some regions is still terrible, like what AndrewJin post.
We shouldn't be satisfied now...
All poor counties and villages should eliminate poverty before 2020,and at that time China will provide poor people with enough basic living allowances(It's said in China Central Television,if the local officials failed, the welfare project will support them after 2020.)

Oh ! Socialism . I might get work in China

Why are Chinese so Polite and humble in this matter ???
To Us , Chinese are developed . Okey not the whole Country is developed but that is to be expected of such a massive Country .
Still have much things to be done before we claim a developed country. And so-called developed country isnt give us much benifit for us,why should us try to presure this useless title?

I took a high-speed train from my city to Shanghai last week.
At the provincial border region is one of Hubei Province's poorest regions, Dabie Mountain region.
Hope if I take the same train a couple of years later, local villagers have different houses.

Government is not elected, their performance gives them legitimacy.
A governor will be examined yearly, every sector has its scores.
If one fails for example, on the electricity coverage, then his/her political life ends.
Too much pressure, you can occasionally hear this or that officer commits suicide. (well, some because of corruption investigation)

No ! :( If I get a Chance , I am planning on Visiting China and Japan :-)
:p:My physics teacher went to Japan and traveled in Tokyo,Osaka,Kyoto and Hokkaido.I asked him how the Japanese live.He said most Japanese lived in small house and went inside, their decoration can't be compared with Chinese(I'm sure he only compared ordinary Japanese with his family:hitwall:)But Japanese houses are good-looking.
He also said the night scene in Tokyo is beautiful.
He recommanded me to go to St Petersburg, many of our teachers went to Russia before.
:angel:Our English teacher hasn't come back for 2 weeks, she should leave our students alone and travel in USA:hitwall:

If you have any plan, imform us firstly:partay:
New district(village) in China is much better than old district(village).

Oh ! Socialism . I might get work in China
It's too early to say that :p:
A long way to go.

Can someone explaine me why Chinese always build look-alike houses en masse? It looks artificial and boring. The individuality is missing in these villages. Is this architecture part of the communist ideal in China?

The new villages are designed by local officials...
Not always.

These "villages" are looking too suburban / urbanised. They don't look charming countryside villages at all. I think villages can look dignified and respectable without looking like mass urbanisation projects. It just needs to look clean and tidy, new roofs, good paint jobs etc.

E.g.

But I think those new villages highlight the improvement in the standard of living for rural Chinese, so it's a good thing.

Huaxi village has a bad beginning and becomes an incorrect model/example.Many village officials learn from it.

The houses you saw is stream line products, not customer design or order. Another reason is reducing cost of building. third reason is China still need a large number of talented architecters. If you have talented architect friends, introduce him to work in China, the gains will be beyond his expectation.
The Guangzhou (Canton) tower was designed by a Dutch. Because of this success, nowadays, there are more than 30 Dutch architect groups, teams taking part in projects in China.

You can't expect some unique house when the village government is giving you free housing equipped with pipeline gas and sewerage system. Efficiency is more vital than colourful styles for the moment.

Lack good architects. Even, in villages, they don't have professional housing engineers at all.
