What's new

Villages across China

What an ignorant crap. We, too, have termites in Germany and what do you think our half-timbered houses are made of?

It's all about Money.
As 20 Years ago, my father can only earn 40 Euro(300Yuan) in a month. You can see how poor we were.
Because chinese get rich not long, now they still seek for better foods, better cloth, better cars. And then they will go to the sprit area, but later.
Becasuse people have not enough money. Thay just want to get the target with few money. Tranditional Chinese Building are not a very big market. The People have not enough money to hire perfessonal designer, workers, and even can not afford the material. Because it's not a big market. There is no company want to perduce the Material. It's very expensiv to make Wood components, roof tiles self. And also because it's not a big market. People still have no gut solution, how to lay out elec wire and electrical appliances. All together, It's much more expensive to rebuilt an old building than built new. The most people will chose to build new one. And also, in Tradition, man can not use fire in live building. How to cook and where to cook is also a problem.
But I will say give it 30 years. It will be more people, who are rich enough and want to live in the Tranditional Chinese Building, then there will be a market, and then there will be more and more Tranditional Chinese Building.

This house is the most hilarious. What does a Roman column have to do with Chinese architecture or culture or tradition? It looks absolutely fugly, TBH.

Modern china is a mish mash of western style with no originality. Chinese fusion of the worse kind

How do you know it is roman column ?
Chinese Traditional architecture uses a lot of column also, and most of them use nanmu or some other kinds wood.
It is extreme expensive , 99.9% Chinese people can not afford that kind of column.

And if you want to build a traditional chinese house , it will be very very expensive for us.

Forget about the material cost , the cost of labor will make you bankrupt.

We have to admit it, when we are wrong. It is a roman column, you can see it in Europa everywhere.
错了就得承认。那确实是个罗马柱,在欧洲到处都是。在中国你在哪见过?

I am not saying it is not roman column, I am just asking why it is roman column.
Because I am not very familiar with architecture

汉字是亮点
Chinese characters is the bright spot

You are quite right. It's not surprised because until 19th century, Vietnamese still use Chinese characters system to write. And symbolic characters are suitable to be used in architecture, not latin-based.

And the house follow the tropical climate design.

Yeah, the Chinese really do wish to absorb Western culture whole. I can't remember who said it but I agreed with them when they said that the main reason was the cultural revolution. When you consciously destroy all cultural connections with the past, you leave a cultural vacuum and that's what's happened in China. The logical step is to fill it with the dominant culture of the time - Western. That's why it's been observed how fastidiously Chinese are trying to replicate the West.

I contrast this with my experience of Japan. On the outside it may seem like Japan has copied the West but it's a lot more nuanced than that. They have let everything pass through a Japanese filter and only take on the stuff that works or the stuff that they really like. There is no need to fill any voids like in China.

;)
Do you have anything original ?come on, show something to us .of course ,we have original stuff.
The roman columns combined with victorian style mish mash doesn't match. No, vietnamese villages do not look as nice because we are still poorer than china. the vcp is useless government.

Chinese villagers drive their own car to work as street cleaners. Monthly salary 326$. Guizhou
The article said the reason : they are villagers sold their land to govt for projects and have nothing to do.
To avoid spend their big money to gamble or something else, they must get something as their every day job.
The cheapest car, as I realise is a Luxgen - Taiwan. Not realize any China brand.

这是欧洲一些传统建筑的风格。
中国传统风格的柱子是雕刻上一些动物图案或者原木刷上油漆。
下面这些是中国风格的一些柱子。
This is some of Europe's traditional architectural style.

Chinese traditional style pillars are carved on some animal pattern or wood paint.

These are some of the pillars of Chinese style.
