All what mentioned also apply to houses built 100 years ago in Europe, even palatial residents.

I have lost my interest on prolonging some petty arguments out of which I think I have presented my points clearly. Sorry!:coffee:

It's an unpleasing feeling to realize that one is a victim of the Cultural Revolution.

. .
Get lost fellow. You statement has no effect on me. No one is so nostaligic about Cultural Rev like you:omghaha:
Bye!

LOL crazy people tell me to get lost in an open forum.

Nothing nostalgic, just the painful truth and present reality that the CR rob you off your culture.

. .
Not entirely, it's first of all about education or the lack of it. The Cultural Revolution destroyed the sense for art, beauty and culture by most people in China.

Before the CR, Chinese in the mainland generally had a sense of culture and beauty, even if they infused foreign elements into their art or architecture, e.g. Diaolou in Kaiping:

What you have posted just suport my point.
If you reserch a little more about those buildings, you will find out, those buildings were builded by the workers, who worked in USA or Canada from 1900 to 1931. At that time, the bussiness in USA and Canada developed very quickly, that‘s why the workers have enough money to send home to build these. And also they are not educated people, bc in China, the educated people don't want to work outside of China. You can see, these were builded by the workers who have money sonst knowlage. And also because they saw the building outside, that's why those buildings are in this style.

I know about that.

What in fact amazes me is, that those uneducated people who worked outside of China still managed to make a perfect blend of Chinese architecture mixted with foreign elements.

And then look at those cheap looking Doric colums at those newly built houses in China today.

Hey. I heard from a friend of mine that there's a city/town in China somewhere where there are a lot of Chinese who used to live in France. So much so that they sold frogs legs, escargots and baguettes in the shops and restaurants. Does anyone know about this?

Chinese villagers are becoming richer and richer
many villagers become rich overnight coz they sell their land to the government
and a lot city guys envy them a lot

with the urbanization of Chinese population, a lot of poor villages will disappear or be abandomed. For the rest villages, the government launches "new countryside" movement, which make many villages beautiful and a lot of villagers move into new houses.

the following are some pics of villages in China, ranging from coast area to hinterland poor provinces.
