Stunning shot !

Btw, since you've been to Yunnan, there is a place there known as Sibsongbanna (Xidai) that is a cultural icon. I've some friends that went there and they say that it is populated by ethnic tribes (Tai) that are linguistically unintelligible from Lao and northern Thai peoples.

I want to visit there someday. :)

Yunnan's most popular place was there 2decades ago but later to feel a sense of tropical atmosphere one will go to Thailand. Now i strongly recommend you travel in northwestern Yunnan. I will post my THREE Yunnan journeys in my Across China thread.

I like to see more of this in China instead of the silly skyscrapers that contradict Feng Shui. Most Chinese people still think that urbanizing is the way to embrace to the modern world. How naive. You will see that in the west, wealthier people tend to live in secluded places with big land, privacy and natural surrounding.

Also the beauty of the traditional landscape coalesces with traditional Chinese architecture. Just so humbling to know that many of these villages are hundreds if not thousands of years old. Yet still here...just amazing.

Not too far away from bustling Shanghai you can find this oasis - 崇明岛 Chongming Island:
