US Will 'Expel' India From Quad if Delhi Buys S-400 Missile Systems From Russia, Warns BJP Lawmaker

In the current scenario, preparation has already been made to become a US ally on your strategic autonomy sacrifices. It is just a matter of time making an announcement India a US sacrificial goat in front of china.

your wishful thinking is not going to be fulfilled .

Swamy does chat nonsense to be fair, so anything he states needs corroborating. He has a personal beef with Modi apparently? @xeuss

Yes. He aspired to be finance minister when BJP came to power, but Modi chose his friend Arun Jaitley for the job. Swamy kept criticizing Jaitley so Modi gave him a Rajya Sabha seat, in the hopes that he would temper his criticism. It worked for a while. However, when Jaitley died, Swamy once again thought that he would get the finance minister's job, but it went to someone else. So Swamy decides to keep criticizing the government.

I would take anything he says with a grain...no sorry...with a lump of salt. However, even a broken clock is right two times a day.

If the US will do then it will risk them losing India as a strategic partner.

India is not Turkey (A part of the alliance) or Pakistan. They will think thrice to impose a sanction on India because of S400 Missile deal.

The general view of Indians will go against the USA after imposing the sanction on India. Therefore, the Government of India will face lots of criticism if they work with USA as a strategic partner.

USA has done lots of work to improve the relationship with India in the past 2 decades. It will go to vain if they do such things with India.

India will not get away with only S400 but if push comes to show then will also bag F35s on the condition of not flying them near S400 sites.....

I don't understand why people are even discussing this topic..... On one hand USA is threatening India with sanctions and on other hand they are supplying India with R60 Romeo, P8, Apache, Globe Master and still officially in the race for 114 fighter Jets deal and what about QUAD which is very latest development..... What is so hard to understand here......

If they sanction us their loss..... In the current circumstances they can't afford loosing India...... If china goes USSR way then offcourse after that we will be on the radar but as of now they need us.....

I think it is safe to say that India's value to the US (strategic/military) will determine the outcome of the sanctions.

What I suspect will happen though is that sanctions will be issued, but will be "waived" or "suspended" by Presidential decree citing "national interest". Just my two cents.

US Will 'Expel' India From Quad if Delhi Buys S-400 Missile Systems From Russia, Warns BJP Lawmaker

07:57 GMT 25.03.2021

by Dhairya Maheshwari

India's proposed purchase of S-400 air defence systems from Russia has become a thorny issue in New Delhi's bilateral ties with Washington, with successive American administrations threatening to impose economic sanctions on India if it goes ahead with the deal. Despite consistent American pressure, New Delhi has so far stuck to the deal.

Subramanian Swamy, a senior lawmaker from India's governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Thursday cautioned that the US would "expel" New Delhi from the "Quad" alliance, which includes the US, India, Japan, and Australia, if Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government goes ahead with the proposed purchase of S-400 missile defence systems from Russia.

The warning by the veteran Indian MP comes days after US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin hinted that India could face sanctions over its proposed purchase of the state-of-the-art Russian air defence systems.

"… we have countries that we work with from time to time that have Soviet or excuse me Russian equipment that they acquired over the years and we certainly urge all our allies and partners to move away from Soviet or excuse me Russian equipment. In some cases it was Soviet equipment because they bought it so long ago", Austin said during a press conference in New Delhi last week.

He was asked if the Biden administration could invoke sanctions against India under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), a 2017 piece of US legislation targeting government and private entities specifically engaged in defence deals with Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

US Has Delhi in a ‘Dilemma’: Former Indian PM's Advisor on US Threat of Sanctions over S-400 Deal

"But to move away from that and really avoid any kind of acquisitions that would trigger sanctions on our behalf", stated Austin, adding that he did discuss the prospect of American sanctions against New Delhi during a meeting with his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh.
In spite of the spectre of CAATSA sanctions, New Delhi has so far publicly resisted American pressure over the $5.43 billion defence deal.
The state-of-the-art S-400 "Triumf" air defence missile systems, touted as the most advanced of its kind in the world, are an export-quality defence product and are said to possess the capability of shooting down incoming enemy aircraft, missiles, and drones within an approximate range of 400 kilometres.
New Delhi is set to receive its first batch of the five ordered S-400 systems from Russia towards the end of 2021.
Besides Russia, only China and Turkey possess the S-400 missile systems to date.

not going to happen
American congress will work 9n a special exemption legislation to give India relief on such sale.

India is American bet to confront China and relieve America's police duties in the region. any such sanction will go against such policy.
recall when Pakistan was needed during Gen Zia time it was given special relief by President against preslar amendment.

on the contrary if Pakistan goes for the chinese copy of that SAM system Q9 or later variant then it will face much tougher sancations than faced by Turkey.

I think you're spot on.

People need to wake up from the bizarre faith being placed in Biden to somehow tilt the balance of power against hindutva. Hindutva is a straight-up ally of convenience for USA against China. Even Congress would be actually. With Trump, there was always some element of randomisation of policy. Biden is simply Obama 2.0.

It makes a lot of sense. India is a US sacrificial goat present to china. Still, the US does not see the same adventure with incompetent Indians what the US already experienced with us in the charlie war in Afghanistan, and 27 Feb exposed India might. US and China war will create a massive backlog for us to maintain balance in the region. should we sign an official defence pact with China to take a breath in the region in elephant fights.

What people dont realise that America has already sanctioned a NATO member Turkey for similar purchase. Turkey is FAR, FAR important to western countries then India can ever be. Its west backyard we are talking about. If any exception is created for a third world non NATO member like India, that will piss of Turkey to the max and we may see unravelling of NATO. Turkey aligned with Russia/China is a nightmare for western civilization with Russia getting easy access to Bosporus.

It is not as simple as some gullible Indians think.

If Turkey was that important ........ Then why is USA treating it like something on its SHOE IE ****

lets see what USA does

India is getting S400 ...........They are sticking two fingers to sanctions threat

You get it

Nothing will happen. USA will do nothing even if India signs another strategic partnership with Russia.
At the moment, India is doing an extremely important work that is containment of China.
100 khone maf Hain India ko is waqt.

So if India buys primarily defensive weapons, India wont get some nametag as a disposeable pawn and human shield for American hegemony?

Really tough choice 🤔

Lol if we see pakistani record Indians don't come remotely close. Better ask your iron daddies why they had to pack up and leave if they were winning.

Yes, on China's term, it is basically a proposal China gave to you last year but you rejected then:

China's international specialist praised your government for being more flexible and cooperative for accepting China's proposal they have rejected last year:
