US wants better India-Bangladesh economic ties

We are probably going to be there because usually the worst strains of diseases like tuberculosis are found in such poor places. We get samples of such and make vaccines out of it, so the next flu shot will be a little better than the last ones. Really, no sinister intention just prolly monitoring stuff like that.

Oh and don't worry we do not have any evil intentions on BD. I'd wager to say 95% of Americans couldn't even point on a map where BD is. Too far, too poor, out of sight, out of mind.

98% never set foot outside of their country. Does that count?
America is more than what you or its citizen think of it.

And why on earth would US or India for that matter attack Bangladesh:cheesy:

US does not want to attack BD but what it wants to free India up from South Asia so it could pay more attention to China. Pipe dream.

The thing is if there is a war, god forbid, between India and Bangladesh, bangladesh from chittagong will attack tripura and USA will tell its consulate and citizens are at harm, so they will send their troops What a nice way. Bangladesh is run by bolods and ghabies. We should not go to india for cow trade because we already have these bolods and gabhis running the country. Let us get them first.

Dude seriously, war with India, don't u think you are aiming too high.

When 37% of Americans can not even point out USA on map, I can not expect anything better from them...

Haha I said the exact same thing few months back when some Bangladeshis were talking about bringing Chinese Navy into Bay of Bengal.

Unfortunately for Bangladesh, westerne world has a lot of leverage over Bangladesh. So not really a pipe dream. If Western countries stop buying Bangladeshi RMG who do you think will pick up the slack? China?

As long as Bangladesh will provide at lowest price they will buy. They are not doing charity. It is pure give and take business.

You d be surprised how easy it is to replace cheap labor. Think Myanmar and Vietnam, two new countries US is trying to cozy up with. Won't take much to give a boost to RMG industry in these countries.

I hope Bangladesh plays it card right. Unnecessary hostility towards India and Western countries won't do you guys any good. Development should be the priority for Bangladesh now(Like S.Korea used the US in return give them whatever strategic leverage they needed, Bangladesh needs to do exactly that), you can do all the politics and strategic maneuvering once you have achieved decent level of development.

India gets to play politics due to its size, if India was a smaller country I would have the same advise for India too.

Vietnam has much higher labor cost then Bangladesh n Myanmar still needs to go a long way... N it has nothing to do hostility to have a better strategic relationship with China or asking them to come Bay of Bengal for a naval exercise.

Bangladesh has a pretty good relationship with China and also with west. It is a well known fact. Bangladesh knows pretty well how to handle relationship with all at the same time.

What India thinks nobody cares. A typical third world country. Even in terms of business we are not benefited much from it.

PLAN holding exercises on the Bay of Bengal? Pipe dream at best  They'll never allow it  You know what I mean by "they".

China and the West are not enemies, but more like competitors. They do have a few issues such as Taiwan.

Are you certain that the Bangladeshi leaders actually looked into their relationship with India in the security perspective? I think not. And that includes the BNP/Jamaat.

Well as I said, hope Bangladesh plays it cards right, cause China won't pick up the slack if Western countries decide to isolate Bangladesh(both in terms of trade and aid).

Hillary and Pronab dada are visiting Dhaka soon :enjoy:

Better think about India... USA just using it like b!t@h for its own geo political interest. When its need will be fulfilled it will just kick at the bu!! ... Take some lesson from Pakistan in this regard.

Bangladesh knows it well how to handle relationship well with everyone. Have you forgot how Bangladesh played its card with India when it was arming tribal peoples of Bangladesh!!!

Bangladesh has excellent relation with US/West and will continue to do so. It is quite simple, we get market access from them and we survive stitching their clothes using our cheap labor, just like we survive cleaning toilets, sweeping streets and looking after goats and sheep in Arabia. Bangladesh-China relationship is at a limbo at this point and we do not have a definite answer which way it will go in the future.

India is always trying to destroy Bangladesh relation with the rest of the world to keep it weak and isolated, thinking that it will be able to keep Bangladesh under its control using RAWamy traitors.

Bangladesh had and will have excellent relation with China. China-BD relationship is strategic and can not be compared with any other country. China understand BD limitation and never put is in a dilemma when it comes to relationship with other country. They even dont mind increased trade relationship with India either.

They're still the same. No major changes whatsoever.

Bangladesh had not and is not hostile to any conuntry, period. But Bangladesh has every right to protect its interest. india and indians has long been labeling Bangladeshi effort to protect its interest and sorverign rights as "hostile". And banking on post 9/11 global scenario india hijacked US policy on Bangladesh and Bangladesh suffered since interim regime of 1/11. US policy and relation with Bangladesh via Delhi has been and current US practice. But despite indian mis information and influence, sooner or later that "via Delhi" US policy will work against its interest.

Today relation between US and Bangladesh ranges from trade, exploration, education, to all the way to defense. But since 9/11 there was another dimension introduced by US in Bangladesh US relation - that is "denial of terrorism". US 3D policy initiative on Bangladesh, Democracy, Development and Denial of terrorism became high level US policy guideline on relation with Bangladesh. As global "war on terror" felt and fought in many parts of the world, Bangladesh, its internal politics, policies and popular opinion became subject of more US scrutiny and influence. Within US 3D policy framework, there was an undeclared but questionable space created for regional power namely India to play role and coordinate its policy and interest with US.

India for its part fully exploited the opportunity US provided primarily by imposing hegemonic wishes and by labeling anyone opposing Indian imposition in Bangladesh as fundamentalists and associates.

It is clear US still evaluates the experience and implication of Indian role in US policy coordination in terms of China factor. That is why we are still seeing US still paddling indian economic ties and interest which should be matter of Bangladesh-india bilateral relation.

But from Bangladeshi prospective experience had not been pleasant, to say the least. There is wide spread perception exists that India had been exploiting policy coordination opportunity with US to advance its hegemonic agenda, undermining Bangladesh sovereignty and conducting subservient activities inside Bangladesh.

One historic fact US need to keep in mind while considering Indian motivation in regards to Bangladesh – undivided India still resonate high on Indian psyche. Post 1/11 regimes which enjoyed Indian and US blessings had pursued many policies and actions that went for Indian interest but against Bangladesh. Keeping eye on China, US policy makers letting India hijack secular narrative on Bangladesh.

US policy makers who are often far from ground level reality influenced by strong indian lobby, who are still paddling indian interest, will find such widespread resentment towards India and India influenced regime will hurt US interest not benefit it.

Did you yourself write all these stuffs? If not, it is customery that you give link to the article.

Although I would not agree to what Roybot said. But, I will not also agree to what you said about our exports to the USA or to the western world. We have entered US market because it allowed our goods, cheap or expensive, into its market. USA is certainly in a position to impose an undeclared No Entry or Little Entry for BD goods even if it is cheap. Do not bite the hand that feeds our country.
