US: Sikh Attacked, Called 'Osama's Brother'

Pretty funny to you, right? Have some shame dude. An old man got assaulted and you find it an hilarious incident. You are an embarrassment to this forum.

indians in the u.s are the targetts of most discrimination because of their dark brown skin. And they don't help to alleviate the bias towards them because indians facial features generally resemble that of a terrorist because they always have an unhappy look on their faces and are always frowning. i find this hillarious.

I find it hilarious, because I live in the USA. And I havent been discriminated like that once. The one's that are targeted mostly for being 'terrorist' here are the Sikhs that have the bread and the Turban and Afghans.

People in America are bias towards Indians because of terrorism? Everyone who comes from the Middle east and comes from the "stan" countries face that. Or the people with Muslim names, like Akbaul or something.

Bro Indians are more respected then any other people in Muslim nation. I even know a church near me that has 'India day'.

They don't know they are indians. the look like terrorists to them.

The US unfortunately is not a 'mature' country, it does not have a 'mature' society. It is quite a 'closeted society' that has little understanding & appreciation for 'foreign' cultures. People tend to avoid things & situations than to confront them (if it doesn't concern them personally); not the signs of a healthy, mature society in my opinion.

Not all Americans are that stupid. And I cant believe someone from a country labeled as the exporter of terrorism by the west is talking about image.

Ever stepped outside your village?

Obviously hasn't.

I meet many people that do.

if he was pakistani, there had been stream of people calling, jehadi, bigot, terrorist, mullah, extremist, religious nutjob, midveil, talibani, mozlum terrorist, 72 virgin seeker, pornographic mullah, pornistani, juice hater, antisemetic, suicidal mullah madrassah terrorist etc and god forbid what not???

Sounds like a list of words to be banned from defence.pk.

PS: add Bharti, typical hindu, orange media, saffron brigade, coward indians & terrorist army in your list. ..BE FAIR!

Just curious ...is this your personal experience ? Because most successful immigrant families I speak to all declare otherwise ....they say U.S society is one of the most accepting and mature ...rather strange ....:undecided:

I reckon the americans though the sikhs are used to being nice and supportive of people that beat them up. I mean Gindies killed sicks on partition and then stuffed then in bluestar operation and they come on this def forum defending Indian governmeents actions.

1. Learn histroy

at least... 2. Learn spelling

I bet the Singhs were old and judging by the first assault (long grey beard) he was. Let them try it with a young Sikh who will stand his ground and get stomped through the pavement.

My condolences to the poor Sikh folk who got attacked. Such attackers are savages pure and simple.

First of all, dont pass judgements on a community or a nation. If being counted amongst the 95th percentile immigrant community in the US and being on top of every economic and social indicator is a result of being spineless, then I would gladly take that.

Indians never tire of this. "We're so great because we're on top of every economic and social indicator". If I'm honest, I do not see this. Indians are no better off than any other ethnic group in the west. Economic indicators are usually based on what people answer over a survey, some phone ins.

For examples, according to one survey, Nigerians are THE most educated group in the US. Only it's obvious they're not when one speaks to one (not that they do badly either). This can be because of phone in surveys where the respondents with the best "economic indicators" are the biggest bs'ers as well.

From what I have observed an Indian getting beaten up would say "I'm Indian, look at him he's Muslim, go beat him up please". That is the spineless mentality I have observed and for sure some Pakistanis are like this, only nowhere near as many.

Second, proactively educating your countrymen isnt spineless, its solution oriented. And if fear would have set in then the community would have gone inactive or left enmasse. Did that happen? No, they decided to stay there and fight it our via greater publicity and education of their fellow countrymen. The fact that they probably didnt do a good enough job of that is a different matter but there are fringe lunatics like the black dude in every society and no matter of education will impact them.

The Sikhs do not fight it. They draw distinctions.. "We're not Muslim".

This is not fighting what you face. This is trying to pass the buck. Which is spineless.

And what do you mean by 'trying to form distinctions'? Its true that a turbaned Sikh might look like an Arab to an American unfamiliar with the Sikh community, but surely they aren't the same, are they?

It depends.

You sure seems to have a knack of being at the place where a person is getting beat up, or you were involved in the beating to be so sure of the bullcr@p you are spewing.

Or did you conduct some sort of a survey to come to this conclusion?

it's the impression i get from what indians say or do (like creating their t-shirts)

an example.

To Americans...Plz next time, Indian Sikhs are peaceful ,don't hurt them, before attacking confirm weather he is indian or not...if he is not Indian, then continue banging him....

I do think this is a common mentality amongst Indians

it's a bit pathetic if you dont mind me saying.
