The word used was doubt. Which in all practicality should be pondered over. How likely is it that we will use helicopters to fight helicopters when we have armour to deal with. More likely there will be targeted by all those anti air guns etc we have accumulated for no other conceivable purpose.
Again, helicopters air to air capability is unimportant and how it takes care of tanks is more important.

Meanwhile I believe MI-35s will end up with the SF or special operations SQD that supports SSG.

Not as a Prime threat, but still holds great threat perception as a volatile entity with 7th largest standing military on the face of the planet. Any additional risk posed by introduction of of new offensive or defensive systems need to be mitigated at all levels, including diplomatic coercions and pressure tactics to hedge against it. As far as real threat arising from these systems, most of the times due to the size of existing defense systems, countermeasures for scalability and potential inductions such systems already exist, but often some systems need additional development of counter strategies, I don't see anything wrong in alteast registering protests to our so called allies when they are arming nations in our vicinity.

Will not work with the US as a long term policy, as they know they lead in technology and thus any restrictions make deals fall apart.

And the US never cares about who it sells its weapons to, competing countries always get weapons according to their needs.

Well not all militaries announce things like that before or even after delivery. What was the unit price of the F 16s we got from Jordan and how early were they announced before they arrived. Details are not always released.

Not to mention the Israelis, who have a thriving relationship with India.

5th generation jets? Drones? Helicopters? Most weapon systems are technologically advanced in two countries, and US is the leader. Your point was valid 10 years ago but not in the future.... European market for drones or jets or helicopters or SAMs or anything more advanced other then maybe armour....
They are not even starting a 5th generation project or a proper drone project. let alone moving forward in any meaningful other project.
