LoC = IB WITH caveats. What do Pakistanis want, really? A dignified life for Kashmiris and safeguarding Pakistan's water rights. That's not a surrender. That's pragmatism, an approach which will ensure Pakistan doesn't stay a 'security state' for another 70 years.

But, of course, Pakistan shouldn't concede anything to India unless conditions are met and even be ready to give a bloody nose to India should it come to that.

Narrative was built by India because of which 3 members (including China!) have said its a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan.
What Pakistan is doing is not narrative building, that was done long ago by India, the new narrative is just starting to dawn on pakistan.

Your fears are valid. And that's why the caveats for LoC = IB should be iron-clad or no dice!! No change in Kashmir's demographics, to begin with. Back to square one, otherwise.

And let's not jump the gun. What we have is a maniacal leadership in India. I still believe there are sane elements in India, however they are currently marginalized.

As Pakistanis---we need to focus on our strategic and humanistic goals for Kashmir. Not ruling out a compromise but not at the expense of Pakistan's goals. It's possible. Thornier problems in the world have been settled before.

Sadly, nothing will come off this meeting. If anything Kashmir issue is only slightly highlighted at the global stage but since all major players have much more to gain from India, they would refrain from any meaningful action regarding Kashmir. This is just a formality.

Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi on Friday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir may be locked up and their voices not heard in their own homes and their own land, but their voices were heard today at the meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held a consultative meeting on Friday to discuss the Kashmir issue as Pakistan urged the world body to implement its own resolutions on this 70-year-old dispute.

The meeting had been called by China on Pakistan’s request to discuss the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir. In the closed door meeting, briefings were given on the situation and consultations will take place to decide how to proceed further.

In a briefing following the conclusion of the meeting, the ambassador said that the meeting had been called within 72 hours after Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had written a letter requesting the same.
