Tupolev Tu-95: Ukraine air force bomber up for sale on eBay | Metro News
A Soviet-era Tupolev TU-95 aircraft from Ukraine has been listed on eBay, with a starting bid of just $3m (£1.8m).
Listed as ‘used’, the strategic bomber bears symbols of both the Soviet Union and the Ukrainian air force, according to the Aviationist.
The eBay listing, which has since been removed, stated that the aircraft, also known as the Bear-H, has only been flown for 454 hours, but is capable of 5,000 – so there’s plenty of life left in it yet.
Built in 1987, the bomber is able to carry nuclear warheads through Kh-55 cruise missiles.
Should you decide to make a bid for the aircraft, you can choose to pick it up from the ports of Nikolayev or Odessa on Ukraine’s Black Sea coast.
Reassuringly it is said to be in a ‘very decent condition’ and should be ready to fly after a ‘technical service’ – but be warned, a Tupolev TU-95 can only be flown after specialist training.
As of Saturday, there were three bids on the bomber, taking it up to $3,000,400, before the listing was removed without explanation.
