It's gona be hung parliament. it was surprising that the Lib Dems didnt have a breakthrough despite strong performance by its leader during the compgain and opinion poll sugesting good gains for them.

.
Prominet labour MPs and former ministers who lost their seats are Charls Clark and J. smith.

.
The latest:

Seats won by parties so far:

Tories: 288
Labour:243
Lib Dems:51

.
it looks like the Lib Dems gona be king maker if the tories dont reach 326 seats.

.
Hung parliament and I am expecting Lib Dems to go with Labour, I voted Lib Dems too, unfortunately no one from BNP was running in my constituency. :)

However there should be a new leader, similarlly 6 pakistani's won election too. We should create our own parliament with these 6 people. ;)

Conservatives are dull and would mess things up.

I am following the events live on BBC. Hung parliament is now confirmed as the tories failed to make a breakthrough and form a majority.

the latest results:

Tories 491
Labour 447
Lib Dems 51

I voted labour, but in my area it is always Lib Dems and they won this time too. BNP didnt get anything, they didnt have any candidate in our area. according to Nick Robinson, there is more chances of Lib Dems forming a coalition with the tories, but i dont know how it's gona work.

In Wales, labour again had majority of the seats but lost a few to the tories.

I was surprised that the Lib Dem didnt get more seats, Nick Clegg had clearly energized the compagin and they seemed to be on course for good gains.

I dont think they are pakistanis. If they were pakistanis, they wouldnt have been able to stand as candidates. They are british.

Obviously Ahmad they are British but they are also Pakistani .like born in Britain but there parents are from Pakistan.......

They consider themselves British Pakistani, like me. And usually hold dual nationality or overseas Pakistani cards.

'Pakistani' is used as an ethnic profile rather than a nationality, thats why many say pakistani, however if you were to ask them about their citizenship, ' they would say British.

Are there more British Indians than British Pakistanis in politics? Which group is stronger? Also, there's a huge (relatively) African population in London as well --- how strong are they politically?

Representation of both groups is about equal in politics but British Pakistani's are a bit more visible. However there are a lot more British Indians (largest ethnic group) so they might have a few more MP's.

African and people from carribeans are not very strong, they were the biggest ethnic group in the 80's but they are deprived in many social things and suffer as a consequence.

Hung parliament and I am expecting Lib Dems to go with Labour,

Lib-Lab pact is not possible at least for now. There are 2 reasons for that.

1-Nick Clegg has clearly refused to form a gov with Labour, because he says Labour didnt secure the largest number of seats, so it looks like he is having a eye to the Tories, and it all depends on his demands from the tories and if the tories accept or not accept it. It is intersting to see how left and right parties can work toghether.

2-According to the latest results, Tories have 291, Labour 251 and Lib Dems 52. To reach the majic number of 326, Labour will need to make coalition not only with the Lib Dems, but also some other smaller parties to get 326. But in case of Lib Dem and Tories, it is very easy to have 326. 52+291= 343.

but we should wait and see what happens, as there still more seats to come.
