The history is simply Shia-Sunni issues that have existed since the dawn of time. When Iran took over these Islands it did so by the use of force, which was taken as a massive insult. It deployed its forces, arrested the few inhabitants and expelled them to UAE. This is when a diplomatic method was being sought.
There was also the Iran-Iraq war. The leaders of Iran viewed UAE with suspicion of aiding the Americans in launching attacks with UAE AF on to Iran. In one case the USAF had launched a cowardly attack and destroyed their offshore oil rig close to UAE-Iran marine border killing a lot of Engineers. My father who worked on offshore oil rigs himself back then saw his oil rig get a few low passes by an Iranian F-14 in response. Apparently just as the F-14 reached the oil rig, the UAE managed to get diplomatic channels opened with Iran and they managed to convince them that it wasn't UAE which attacked them. The F-14 was waiting for orders and it would have blown everyone up. My father carried out the evacuations so he was also one of the last people off, apparently his American boss was frozen stiff at the sight of the F-14 and wouldn't hit the evacuation alarm. All the Engineers mostly Pakistani back then, managed to escape through small rafts. It took them an entire day to come home.
This incident directly led to UAE spending a lot in militarily arming itself from any further aggression.
I repeat the UAE is the only country in the region that probably CAN be friends with Iran, but it will require work from Iran.
Really you are a psychologist now?
You can read their minds now?
Who is being obstinate here now? Its a diplomatic row which should be handled in that way. The UAE claims those Islands and will continue to do so.
Why don't you claim the entire ancient Persian empire?
