China’s mil.huanqiu.com has published a report about U.S. National Interest’s article on California think tank RAND’s new briefing paper on U.S. air war with China when China attacks Taiwan.

It provides quite a detailed summary of the article and then gives the comments that RAND’s prediction that 30 wings of U.S. warplanes can defeat outright Chinese air force is but war on paper.

The report claims that even if the U.S is able to send so many warplanes into the battles, there will be a serious shortage of logistic, maintenance and other supporting services.

RAND says 7 wings i.e. 525 warplanes of the U.S. air force can shoot down half of the Chinese attacking fighter jets in a week, but the Chinese report says that as all U.S. military bases on the first and second island chains will be destroyed by the rain of missiles from the Chinese military, where are those U.S warplanes to stay, take off or land?

SM-3 and THAAD would protect Guam which is the most important base in the area. If China knocks out SK and Japan that would suck, but the U.S still has 10 Supercarriers, but then again China has some super dooper ASBM DF-21D right

I just don't see the U.S and China ever going to a major war when they both need each other :close_tema:the status quo benefits both parties and the region.

At this moment, DF-21 still has very low chance to hit any aircraft carrier at short to medium range.
This is just a fantasy

When you make a plan to mass launching missiles to a target to kill it, you know how inaccurate your missiles are.
The problem is "you have not enough missiles to make a rain of missiles"

LOL @ these drunk Americans. This isn't 1980. Anyone can make empty threats.

Any discussion of military matters without a discussion of logistics is pointless.

Fighter aircraft need a runway to takeoff from.
Fighter aircraft need fuel.
Fighter aircraft operating over the vast distances of the Western Pacific will require tanker support.
Tankers need a runway to takeoff from.
Tankers need fuel.
Vast majority of ships need fuel.
Even nuclear aircraft carriers will require jet fuel for the aircraft.

So the better question is: does the US have the logistical network available to support 500+ aircraft above the Taiwan Strait?

If your answer is yes, you need to explain HOW.

In my opinion, South Korea will be sitting on the sidelines in any US-China war. Don't expect any help from them.

Guam is a tiny little island. Disable Apra Harbor and Guam is out of the fight. Easily done.

This leaves Japan, an island nation with no natural resources whose very existence depends on the shipping lanes that run through the South China Sea. Do they really want a war and watch their entire economy go down the toilet? Are they ready to take the bullet for the US?

Really?

DF-21 tested with just kinetic warhead on a old decommission warship moving at 20+knots

THis is taken after the old moving warship took a hit by the DF-21D without explosive but kinetic impact only. US intelligence fully observed the whole process but remain silent becos this is a game changer in knocking out USN CVN.
They do not want to US public to panic over their helplessness against DF-21D. CHina will launch multiple DF-21D attacking just one CVN. Even 24 DF-21D combine is still cheaper than a sunk CVN. USN has no way to counter China multi silo DF-21D.

Real time DF-21D has conducted but US intelligent just keeping numb and wish to keep the public silent so that people like BoQ77 still think DF-21D is just fantasy. China is GOD! Hater may cry.

yes we hear it often on here(mainly Chinese warmongerers), I'd say the US has the most credibility to threaten any country though.

This is all pure speculation isnt it?.................Anyway i can never ever see the US transferring a large percentage of its airforce overseas.

not Df21 isfantasy, that 1960s design is real. Shooting aircraft carrier at 1000km distance by 24 even 240 of that is fantasy.

explain the ship with a big hole to us . what does it mean?

a hole by a kinetic energy warhead 600kg travel at Mach 10 speed? or a strike of a cruise missile

let play a game,
choose a pixel in a 4k tv, now you will try to use you ballpoint pen to hit on it. 1000 times. when you could hit exactly on it, let choose the second pixel and repeat.

oh hey, you will do that just to push US aircraft carrier to operate outside the range 1500km wont you?

SM3 or in near future laser weapon would have some targets to intercept.

dont expect too much on ballistic missiles.

China dont want to give any reason to be hit in their mainland. because their ballistic defence still helpless.
and why you so sure that American Will attack at only one direction?

no one will hit you by nuclear, so you wouldn't dare to use nuke against any other.
let estimate could you destroy any enemy with only 1/2 of your ordinary missiles inventory? or how many enough for India? Australia?

Sure we do. By existing, we already give any potential enemy a reason to attack our mainland. So the best reaction is: you can try to hit us, but you won't be able to survive the counterstrike. The more reason enemies have to attack you, the more they won't attack you. Look at Vietnam: you have nothing that anyone wants. No economy, no resources, nothing. Yet Vietnam was one of the most wartorn countries of the 20th century, precisely because you had nothing.

nothing to lose. Harder to threaten, my friends.
Vietnam economy is tied to China. You have too much to lose. China is vietnam largest trading power while Vietnam is not even China top 10 largest trading power. :D More or less tells you what we can threaten vietnam.

That is why VCP stop all anti-China activities while Vietnam troll online can only post provoking thread to vent their frustration. :D

The old decommissioned ship didn't have any defence capabilities while carriers are escorted by destroyers that can shoot down ballistic missiles

I don't see any reason for China and US to go to war or for China to invade Taiwan
