U.S. feared India would intervene in Bangladesh after coup

Joe Sirjee I think you meant to quote the asad71 guy

No, I didn't, although I was referring to his post quoted by you.

India cannot just bypass Bangladesh. Throw away all those trash tea sipping meeting reports to the gutter. We have seen already how you have developed that hilly siliguri corridor for the last 65 years when India is pulling off its hairs and begging BD to give a transit via its Ctg port and Akhaura. Why would India beg us if your links are such important?

Grow up boy and do not let all those Dehliwala politicians deceive you for another 65 years. BD will remain the focal point of trades among ASEAN, China and India. Instead of a 2500 km of detour through rebel infested NE, India should go for ocean transportation.

I don't understand.

The Siliguri corridor is hilly? Since when? And what further development is needed, that hasn't taken place? More six lane highways? Can be done, but why, precisely? Only a reduction in distance would justify these additional investments, and that is what the transit routes through BD seeks to achieve. More rail links? Perhaps there is a case, with rapidly increasing volumes of passengers and goods moving in and out of the north-east. More air links? Oh, yes, please. These flights are already crowded. More water-borne links? We have none of these, and only in this one transport segment could we do with some Bangladeshi help.

Thank you. When you are supposed to oppose my points that India needs BD transit route to enter even its own NE in an economically feasible method, you have cited points that only supports my views.

Yes, transport ECONOMY is a big factor in doing international trade and business. When BD gives India a 200 km short transit it is cheaper than that Siligury route of 1500 km.

It is same when it is India's trade with ASEAN and China. You need BD route to sell cheap. If you go via Siliguri you lose business because transport becomes expensive.

I am not only talking about a road transit, I am talking also of a rail transit, and a short transit in that. However you try, you cannot just bypass BD for a short connectivity to both ASEAN and China. A road/rail integration of the region is for the best interest of India. So, India needs BD cooperation. BD is not the underdog here. It is because BD can do trade without India, but India cannot do without BD.

LOAN for developing infrastructure for Indian benefit.

LOAN for developing infrastructure for Indian benefit.

All these loans and credits are on (news)papers only. The only tangible loan is for Akhaura (BD) to Agartala road of some $68 million. But, half the road lies within India. To get in order our infrastructure to facilitate Indian transit, BD needs $7 billion. But, India cannot afford that much of money.

well to tell you a secret i was a student of R.K.M.V.N.(Ram Krishna Mission Vidyalaya Narendrapur),so we both studied from schools which give the highest priority to the Indian Culture:cheers:.heck there was even a subject called Indian Culture up to class 8 in our school and it was about the interpretation of the Vedic mantras etc and unfortunately it was a compulsory paper which meant that the student should obtain the minimum pass marks to qualify for the next class:P

Dude you're gonna blink after this one, KVM= Krav Maga, Israeli H2HC- that's what I was referring to..and my appreciation of it as a student ergo the aforementioned "so we have another thing in common".

But yes my cousins are both from Ram Krishna Mission- do not remember were exactly. Man you people have some strict discipline. Vedic mantras- Nasadiya Sukta.. :smitten:

man they taught you Krav Maga:woot:!i didn't find one good Krav Maga instructor in Kolkata:hitwall:,i always wanted to learn that deadly martial art!
mate we had to go to the prayer hall both in the morning and in the evening to chant the Vedic mantras and to sing different devotional songs and the funniest thing was that we had to wear dhotis and uttariyas at that time!R.K.M. is indeed very scrict when it comes to discipline:)

Slight correction, its not a martial art and it ain't deadly..its simply H2H nothing more..you want deadly with hands without a firearm- pick up a knife and get god with..I wish Hype hadn't gone of to Pak for his wedding- he could have amplified better on this- ex-Turkish Army that fellow, presumably badass- either way an amazing friend to have. But ya deadly is taking a dagger and ramming it into someone's gut, defense is debilitating a person with a RNC. KVM is the latter.

Oh my cousins told me..turned out to be a balanced and disciplined man unlike the rogue that is moi. :agree:
