U.S. feared India would intervene in Bangladesh after coup

wtf is Brahmonic dictatorship. You do live in a world of your own don't you

Now tell me, if Mujib believed in TNT (I believe he did) meaning hindus and muslims cant co-exist, so why would any Indian Bengali look up to him as an idol. And you did'nt give me links supporting your wild claims

I have read a lot of bilge from a lot of sources. This is again one deserving of immediate enrolment in the Hall of Fame.

Indian Hindu Bengalis worshipping him as an avatar of Netaji, a man who would assist them in getting out of the Brahmonic dictatorship of Delhi?

What Brahmanic dictatorship of Delhi?

How is Delhi a dictator over West Bengal?

And how is Delhi Brahmanic in character? Have you looked at the composition of the union cabinet? Would you know, off hand, what percentage of that cabinet is Brahmin?

Which Hindu Bengalis are you so withers-wrung in sympathy for? The ones who were ruled under the Communists by an overwhelming majority of the three upper castes? Or the ones who replaced that 35 year old gerontocracy by another cabinet with a greater proportion of the upper castes? Are you at all aware that West Bengal has no shortage of Brahmonic politicians?

This was such a ridiculous, ill-informed post that it invites outright contempt.

One thing I would like to say- why is it nations like BD and Pakistan are paranoid of India "absorbing" them into the Indian union? Does anyone honestly believe that India would like to take on nations like BD and Pakistan with the plethora of issues and baggage these two come with? BD and Pakistan are hardly Hong Kong or Singapore, India has its own issues to deal with without having to deal with all the problems in BD and Pakistan. If India had any imperialist designs for BD then after 1971 India wouldn't have pulled out its military. India was in a position to take control of BD militarily but it CHOSE not to. Similarly when India intervened in the 1988 coup attempt in the Maldives- India's military forces went in, stabilized the situation and then WITHDREW. If India wanted to take control of the Maldives it could have easily as the forces it deployed were many times more capable than the military forces of the Maldives.

I'll let this former PAF officer explain it to you:

Seriously, what does BD and Pakistan have to offer India? I think some people have an inflated sense of their nation's importance .

Exactly - nothing will happen - unless the Islamo fascists go really really crazy, I don't see any harm to BD from any quarters other than radical elements so I wonder why the loud mouth Jamaati's create an unnecessary fear psychosis of an Indian attack or annexation when it didn't even remotely cross our minds.

infact the Islamophobes are getting crazy and that will end up paying heavily by these islamophobes non other

Don't forget India is the 4th biggest victim of terror - so whether you like it or not - the certificate will always be given - if you don't desire it then stop manufacturing, training and sending your loonies across the border.

India cannot just bypass Bangladesh. Throw away all those trash tea sipping meeting reports to the gutter. We have seen already how you have developed that hilly siliguri corridor for the last 65 years when India is pulling off its hairs and begging BD to give a transit via its Ctg port and Akhaura. Why would India beg us if your links are such important?

Grow up boy and do not let all those Dehliwala politicians deceive you for another 65 years. BD will remain the focal point of trades among ASEAN, China and India. Instead of a 2500 km of detour through rebel infested NE, India should go for ocean transportation.

Your comment make no sense. Like India, China too have got transit route from Myanmar to get shorter route.

So, don't be a delusionist about India's North-East. North-East can progress without Bangladesh but Bangladesh will always need India for Bangladesh's development.

Politics of Jamat is based on extreme Hindu hatred. You guys will never protest Chinese dams on Bangladeshi rivers but will shed crocodile tears on Indian dams on tiny rivers.

Yes, China can get a route to BoB via Burma and a route to ASEAN directly. But, to get to a large Indian market it needs a route through BD. We will give it to China willingly. But, India needs to beg for BD favor to get any route to China and ASEAN. Every stupid economist knows how beneficial it is to do trade via land.

BD does not need even to trade with India. There are other countries that can be substituted for India. Many millions of poor Indians are surviving because BD imports its raw materials. Cotton, rice, wheat, name any. We are already importing a part of these through other sources.

It is BD that will dictate its terms before allowing a workable transit to India. It will not be the other way. You go through BD, you prosper. If it shames you, you remain as underdeveloped as you are now.

Point you raised about import or trade is not true. Chinese already have a huge trade volume with India.

I see Bangladesh as a loser because of their Indophobia. Your economic interest can serve best with India because of your geographical location. Even the Shonadia Port can only serve India.

For North-East we have Myanmar and we don't need Bangladesh if Bangladesh don't want us.
Bangladesh and its near-abroad: The begums and the two giants | The Economist
Sheikh Hasina has agreed to allow India to use its territory for transit. But the absence of proper roads makes the concession meaningless. And so India has been making plans without Bangladesh to secure access to its landlocked north-eastern states, via Myanmar. It is developing a deep-sea port in Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine state in Myanmar. The port is 500-odd km from Kolkata, India’s main port on the Bay of Bengal and part of India’s so-called Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project—a gateway to India’s landlocked north-eastern states. Rather conveniently, Sittwe is also close to Myanmar’s massive Shwe gasfield. The idea will be to run a canal, highway and possibly a pipeline from Sittwe to a newly constructed river port in Myanmar’s Chin state, and then on to the border with the Indian state of Mizoram. The project is expected to become operational by mid-2013. And so Bangladesh looks likely to be left in its isolation.

@eastwatch..

1. Why oh why would Indo China trade need a route through BD? do you have borders with China? Do you know the volume of Indo Chn trade? and, how much of that transit through BD? - I'll answer that for you - zilch.

2. Check the map again - India is more closer with larger borders to Asean both by land and by Sea than Bangladesh- so why oh why would India beg BD for transit to reach China or Asean?

3. Millions of poor BDians are dependent on food supplies that India exports including low cost beef and what do you think is India's export volume and how much of that is provided by tiny BD? - I'll answer that for you too - minuscule.

4. An underdeveloped state will help us develop!!! - seriously??????

It's interesting how the anchorwoman pretty much shouts down the officer. Goes to shows exactly how much that nation needs India to be the boogeyman.
