U.S. bristles at stiff Pakistani NATO fees

Even you aren't agreed, with it, but would ya, like to agree on the, point, to nuke pakistan, if it doesn't, agree to open, Nato supplies?
& what could be the, impact would, it bring to USA, aftEr wards?

No I don't agree per se with the 'title' of the video and I don't think that Mr.Scheuer would agree with it either ! As for needing to nuke Pakistan....they don't need to do that; we're already pretty foOked and at best they could just facilitate further the Balkanization of Pakistan...nothing as radical as Nukes or even boots on the ground !

Balkanization of pakistan is bound, to make more safe heavns for thr terreorits, they are just , facing 1 afghANistan, how about, 10 more?
Can they, clean the mess of, 10 more nucler Armed, anti-US ,safe heavens of the radicaly adminstrated, afghanistan?
No I don't, think so, more than 60% of, our population hates america, it will increase in 100%, if US , tries anything silly like, that!

And how is that related to what happens in Afghanistan?
Read it mate, & try to understand, it!
They are telling, US loud & clear, they don't want , see US sitting, in Afghanistan & attack IRAN, use afghaniistan as a base, against IRAN, although, its a different ball game, bt still , it can end up, like a mega , disasster for the US?
A nuclear exchange, can happen any, time! If US kept its self in afghanistan!
Understand my, friend, russians don't wana see, US in afghanistan!
Dam US politicians , doing hell of job, keeping CIA,s plans , intact, bt they alSo don't know,if they all fall, like in vietnam?

$5,000 per truck is very low. It should be atleast $10,000 per truck.
Ya, but we have to care of our big brother, who is getting down economicly, any way US had, supported us ,on many issues,so the amount, is oky! I guss ?

Unfortunately, as your ruling politicians have now realised, the Pakistani economy might join up in the same dust bin. Scoffing at American money was a lot easier when it flowed easily, doing so now in the face of a dwindling tap has suddenly become more difficult. Anyone doubting that just needs to read articles that have started to appear in the media recently. Anyone & everyone is for a quick settlement of the issue. Pakistan's options are limited. You have already shown your cards. The Americans can still ratchet up the pressure by squeezing your economy even more. Unless Pakistan is ready to see its exports dwindle away to nothing, your choices are extremely limited.

Pakistan's problem was that you took a maximalist position & then made it an issue of "ghairat". The climbdown was always happening & the higher you climbed up, the more humiliating the climb down was going to be. Too bad you chaps climbed all the way to K2.

Good to see an Indian concerned about Pakistan's economy, or is he? Enforcing US point of view seems to be the only reason! To him, whatever Pakistan does should be condemned and criticized? Its Pakistan who have to decide what is good and what is bad for itself. Isn't it? Indian teaching lessons on how Pakistan's economy should be handled? Are few million dollars that important? What have these aid(s) peanuts have done to Pakistan's economy before?

Pakistan has been addicted of these (AID) drugs. No matter how intense is the need for its intake, it must be stopped. Or intake should limited to the terms that it does not adversely impact its own intestine.

After giving up its demands on stopping drone attacks and an apology, it would be instructive to see how much Pakistan ends up getting from reopening the supply routes, the price being a direct measure of the strength of its bargaining position.

Pakistan was not really looking for an apology in the first place, & yes, it wanted to stop the drone attacks. While the drone attacks have not stopped, they have been reduced SIGNIFICANTLY, & will continue to do so with Pakistani pressure.

Apology was on the cards.

But then, some backstabbing by the politicians totally ruined the whole process.

The US was ready to give something resembling an apology, but Pakistan told them to wait a bit, until the Parliament resolution comes, so that the government can take some credit and increase it's popularity. Then the Kabul incident happened. The US then had to do some face saving there, and they were after that not willing to give out another apology (election year in US as well), and all our plans went flop.

Army thought they had everything under control, government thought they had it all sorted out, difference of opinion, and PPP kind of back-stabs everybody.

We are now wanting 5000$ per truck, roughly 450k, but US is only willing to give 1800$. Some difference of opinion still exists.

Now you are talking Zardari language. Him and Sherry Rehman apparently made it to Chicago with a full working that if gone through Northern Route it would cost the Americans USD 10,000, so they are still coming out with 50% reduction in cost by paying USD 5000.

No? There's the northern route, we'll help point the way as well.

It turns out apology plan got hit when the Afghanistan incidents happened, Quran burning, urinating on dead bodies and thrill killing of kids by American soldiers.

Karzai told Americans, come and apologize or else Afghanistan is out of your hands. He did it and got flak for it.

Now if he apologizes to Pakistan the opposition would call him the apologizing President.

The overall amount received by Pakistan will not rise by much. What Pakistan makes away with increased transit tariffs will likely cause reductions elsewhere. I think this called a "zero sum game" or something like that.

Important point is why the hell your country is begging for this supply route to reopen when they have NDN as an alternate route. At least his what we heard from likes of you after Pakistan closed the routes.

Yes. As i pointed in my post, Obama would have got flak as well if he had apologized to two states in a short time.

Its good news. Americans upset to having to pay half as much as they want to on Pakistani routes.

I think that the difficult thing to swallow is the fact that Pakistan is standing up to them. They are used to countries being subservient to them

How exactly would things be different had Pakistan not closed the supply routes in response to the US murder of 24 Pakistani soldiers?

1. The US was already refusing to reimburse $3 billion in CSF funds
2. Drone strikes were occurring frequently
3. Pakistan was not being included in the US 'End Game for Afghanistan'
4. The US 'Deep State' was maligning Pakistan through its propaganda machine every chance it got

What is the significant difference between now and then (before the NATO supply closure)?

None. So what did Pakistan gain? Now it is in an even deeper pit, international diplomacy wise, the import of which has yet to bite fully.

Pakistan was not really looking for an apology in the first place, & yes, it wanted to stop the drone attacks. While the drone attacks have not stopped, they have been reduced SIGNIFICANTLY, & will continue to do so with Pakistani pressure.

The drone attacks have reduced because there are not many militants left to kill. Their use as an effective tactic continues.

With the haggling going on, while the economic pressures mount on Pakistan, it may surprise you who would be more anxious to see the routes open and the money flowing again. USA does not seem to be in any hurry. The final figure per truck would reveal much.
