A few years ago, foreign media and research institutions has been claimed that the Chinese navy to enter the shipbuilding climax, "the new warships of the" Chinese Aegis "and so on come out as evidence. In fact, overseas publicity to China naval strength has been the rapid growth of "all those years, it is precisely the Chinese Navy's shipbuilding low tide, the foreign media and think tanks say just to prove that the" threat "of China's military power, the" climax "On completely by can not afford to scrutiny.

The early years of the 21st century, only six new destroyers into the water, from 2005 to 2010 is not actually a new destroyer into the water. The new service main warships in recent years, only the Type 054 frigate and the "Kunlun Mountains" class amphibious ship, the update rate can not meet the huge demand of China's ocean.

By contrast, the launching of the new destroyers of Japan every year in recent years, "to" class helicopter carrier, has been in service two new ships of the "black dragon" class submarines, Autumn Moon "-class destroyers and other emerged one after another. Replacement rate of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, significantly more than the Chinese Navy. The so-called "China's shipbuilding climax on Japanese shipbuilding speed looked very pale and weak.

Chinese Navy shipbuilding low tide, mainly derived from marine engines and other technical limitations, especially the technical bottleneck of the gas turbine, a direct result of the stagnation of the domestic destroyer construction. But in recent years, with the domestic level of the gas turbine to improve the construction of Chinese-made destroyers and restart, really usher in the Chinese shipbuilding "climax".

China Sea warships engine is the major differences between the two factions, namely, diesel engines and gas turbines, two systems. Advanced diesel technology to ensure that the Type 054 frigate class amphibious ship in the Kunlun Mountains bulk service. The localization of breakthrough of the gas turbine, to ensure the mass production of a new batch of 052C destroyer.

Type 054 frigate has been completed and a dozen ships, the Type 052C destroyers under construction and several boats as much, plus ships, the new "Kunlun Mountains" class amphibious ship, and brewing in the new amphibious assault ship, the replacement rate of the Chinese navy is expected to Initial catch up with Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Forces. On the other hand, the old destroyers, frigates will also accelerate the decommissioning progress.

In the Chinese Navy towards the ocean journey, the lack of good ship gas turbines once the biggest "stumbling block", which restricts the development of a large warship. However, according to media reports of a Canadian "Han and defense review" in the Ukraine to assist gradually to overcome this persistent problem and future warship design is entering the realm of freedom.

The gas turbine is the "heart" of the large modern warships, the manufacture of such equipment companies in addition to the U.S. General Electric Company and the British Rolls-Royce, leaving Ukraine's "Twilight" mechanical design research and production association (MD) . In the Soviet era, MD for more than half of the Soviet Union, the main vessels of the UGT-15000 gas turbine. Ukraine's independence, MD developed to reach the world advanced level of UGT-25000 (also known as DA-80) high-power gas turbine, the machine weighs 16 tons, 29,000 kilowatts of rated power, is the ideal power source for large ships over 6000 tons.

"Han and defense review, said that China in the 1990s, the introduction of the UGT-25000 gas turbine, and attempts to its localization. However, due to the Ukrainian side are reluctant to transfer of technology, China must first assembled with imported parts and components. Into the 21st century, Ukraine is a result of economic distress, finally agreed to provide China with UGT-25 000 gas turbine technology. Allegedly, in China there are a number of jointly promote the localization of the aircraft, including the gas generator section by an Aero-Engine Group is responsible for the power turbine manufactured by a steam turbine plant, in a research institute of the CSIC system matching. There are rumors that the Chinese localization of the UGT-25000 gas turbine, also known as the QC-280, has recently been to achieve mass production.

In the grasp of the UGT-25 000 gas turbine, the troubled years of Chinese navy ships power will be effectively addressed. In the future, the Chinese Navy will be able to the construction of the main battle ships of greater tonnage (ton destroyers and aircraft carriers), the combat strength of the leap and promote.

That's a old time story. India loves to cling on to history... China is the largest military importer in 2000 but now its 2012 Indian will still say the same thing.. Please go update yrself. Dont go quote 10 yrs ago news and make it relevant now.

China produced its own propulsion system just like how we are producing WS-10 aircraft engine which is same class as American FW100.

Good to see that the production of our navy gonna explode in this year, hopefully the indigenous carriers and super destroyers could also pick up the pace.

If we cannot master internal combustion engines from 200 years ago...

According to the article, US and UK are the only top players in the propulsion technology, while USSR was the 2nd tier player, and Ukraine has inherited all its legacy in this domain.

BTW, China has definitely surpassed Ukraine (USSR) in this domain in the recent years, now we are only behind US & UK who were the top players for more than a century.

No Germany?!

Germany is top class in diesels. Maybe not aircraft engines, but definitely all other ICE.

We should not only seek to compete directly, but also to achieve supremacy in areas that are still open to dispute.

Space exploration is one of these areas. Once our heavy lift rocket is ready, we can start launching big probes and big telescopes.

Germany got heavily restricted in this area, maybe even Japan could have the capability to develop a powerful ship propulsion if without any restriction.

Agree! If Russia is that fantastic, it will not need to buy Mistral LHD from France. This is never heard of during Soviet times.

Our WS-15 is also going to be deput soon in few years time. Then China and USA will be the top 2 maker in aircraft engine.

Russia is now struggling to build a 4000 tons Gorshkov class frigate which uses the similar CODAD/CODAG propulsion to the Type 054A.

While China can build the Type 054A like the chocolate bars, but none of the Gorshkov class frigates hasn't been commissioned yet since 2006.

Dont worry, Russia will start building nuclear 14.000t destroyers this year. We will show you pics when it will be ready

When the 180kN WS-15 is deployed on J-20, then we can definitely claim to be toe to toe with US in the engine domain.

maybe in 10 years something like that will be deployed but with 300-500 hours of resource time, still inferior to Russian and US engines.

Good to know Soviet comrade starts to work.

PLAN received more than a dozen new ships within 5 years. How many do you got?

Just for yr ignorance sake!

http://www.defence.pk/forums/chines...cations-russian-salyut-al-31f-jet-engine.html

The Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) has developed its own service life extension modifications for the Russian-made Salyut AL-31F engine, a Moscow-based defence and foreign policy think-tank has reported.

The modifications to the AL-31F/FN P.2 series engine increase its operational limits by more than 65 per cent - from 900 to 1,500 flight hours, according to the privately owned Centre for the Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST).....

This level of improvement in the engine's design demonstrates that the Chinese have achieved near autonomy in the support of these Russian-made engines. Russian specialists who spoke to Jane's state that this is "another example of how the technology sold to the Chinese during the 1990s has now been fully assimilated by them. It is only a matter of time before the engines that China produces will be as good as or better than anything designed here in Russia".

Yr mother Russia is decaying. Only yr president is smart to ally with china.

They have it on the paper, but you know India also has some nuclear supercarrier on the paper. :coffee:

I think Russian is more and more like Indian. Talk big, achieve nothing. Btw, I smell the zzz is actually an Indian flying Russia flag.. Cos he acted just Indian in the same manner( no substance)

Just for yr ignorance sake!

A WS-10 engine has the lifespan about twice as long as a AL-31 engine, thus we don't need to license the AL-31.

But considering most of our J-11A/SU-27SK and J-10A still rely on the AL-31 engines, we need to make sure the AL-31 engines in our inventory could last a bit longer than the original Russian version. :coffee:

We don't want to constantly buy the replaced AL-31 engines from Russia.
