Turkish Sensor and Detector Programs

Research and development? How did other countries acquire the knowledge?
China acquired most of its tech via reverse engineering up until recently.
Egypt either reversed engineered or used TOT from the US received back in the late 80s and early 90s to create a development of the AN/TPS-63.

He is an Arab. He doesn't know about it.
Reverse engineering works as well, as evident by China until recently.

Aselsan started to work on radars in 1991... After a direct order from SSB (It called ''Savunma Sanayi İcra Komitesi'' back then)
All this radars you see today are thanks to our hardwork for last 2 decades... If you really wanna produce, unique products, you need to work on R&D... I don't like all this reverse engineering tricks to be honest...
China produce a lot of things today... But still couldn't catch western standards...

Revenrese engineering is not an efficent way to gain progress. Even If you succeed to rever engineer it, yout final product will not be better than original product. Thats why R&D is better option.

And why china successfully copied lot of soviet tech is After USSR collapsed china collected many of soviet enginners.

Try it....

Egypt apparently has reverse engineered its American radar. Apparently its an indigenous development of a licensed radar from the late 80s, and early 90s which ended with 90% production in Egypt according to sources from the late 90s. Either the knowledge gained from this, or reverse engineering is the culprit.

Looks like the ESR-32A ?
Yeah it is, it turns out is a development of AN/TPS-63. I can show you the video. I highly doubt Raytheon would assist in development of an offshoot of an old radar that was manufactured by Westinghouse before they acquired it.

@Turan09
So Turkey got into radars by starting R&D? What was their first radar if I may ask?

It is a old technology, try with AESA radar.

Calm your horses, this tech is still useful today, and you have to remember this is Egypt's first radar. How many nations even produce any air search radar? ASELSAN has been doing this since 1991, that's like comparing ASELSAN to Raytheon at present. There is also a 450KM 3D radar under development.
