:) I suppose NIR detectors on next. SWIR has strategic importance in many aspects.

Bro, from the looks of it Aselsan is ahead of so many companies in NIR detectors. Low Noise, Low Power consumption and High Gain... Also in the presentation he says that power consumption can be further lowered.

I don't know why we Turks even bother setting up companies for the betterment of our Country...

We have Two companies who produce optical sights for rifles Aselsan and 3EEOS and a third if you want to count the Land Forces own facilities..

So, having all those resources being able to produce products within Turkey, why are we seeing our soldiers equipped with holographic sights from EOTech?

Could it be old "Stocks"?
Could it be cheaper for same specs?
Could it be prefered by Soldiers upon TR made?

.
Well, our products aren't "proven" yet, so I assume that's one reason. another would be the price. Since our "new" products haven't covered the R&D cost yet, the prices will be much higher than the existing products.

I think the same could be said about Aselsans NIR and SWIR. Unfortunately it is not something we can avoid unless government says at least 40% of a product must be bought from Aselsan, etc. it's not even enough to say 40% of whatever you buy must be made in Turkey because in that case the military ends up buying something just to fill the requirement. (numer is just an example).

So unless the law says very specific if you buy 100 popeye then you must buy 70 SOM. And even make the military use the SOM and not put it in a corner to collect dust our own industry won't grow nearly as fast as we may want (btw. this is just another example).

For those who (like me) don't know much about NIR and SWIR. Here is a link you can read to gain a better understanding :)

Or on another point, it could also be political... just like how US purchases certain weapons from outside when it could easily develop its own in-house. Bit of a give-and-take sort of thing.

I don't think such low cost devices hold much political sway, more complex systems that require Government-Government approval would be political.

Aselsan Volkan rifle sight... Seems Aselsan and German MAK group are in business together as Aselsan is producing their weapon sights, which isn't a bad thing, they are high quality optics.
