Turkish planes bomb "terrorist group" in northern Iraq
Istanbul - Turkish air force planes have conducted raids on targets in northern Iraq, the Turkish military announced in a statement on its website Sunday.
The raids took place on Saturday night on targets in the Zap and Hakurk districts, identified as 'caves being used by a terrorist group,' according to the statement.
No further details were given other than that the planes returned to base safely.
The Zap and Hakurk regions are known to be home to bases used by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a Kurdish separatist group which has been conducting an armed insurrection in south-east Turkey since 1984.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by the European Union and the United States.
Turkish planes have conducted a number of raids against targets in the region since the breakdown of a ceasefire and the recommencement of attacks by the PKK in Turkey.
In December, Turkish planes bombed a convoy of alleged smugglers, killing 34 and sparking protests throughout Turkey.

BTW: I am starting to getting p'ssed about foreign news agencies definition of PKK... ''The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by the European Union and the United States.'' like it is something debatable!!!
