Turkish Naval Programs

Deliveries of the Reis class to the navy were due to begin this year, it looks like it will be delayed to 2023 due to Germany's stalling on a few issues. The Greek lobby is working hard on this. However, such inconsistencies led to the formation of alternative strategies on the SSB side as well. There are a few areas left, and it has been a long time since the European industry ceased to be the only alternative in those matters. Reis class will be the last submarine project worked with Germany and it is almost impossible for a German company to take a share in the MILDEN project. They mixed up a geopolitical issue that did not directly concern them, so amateurishly as to destroy an industrial relationship in their favor.

Apart from the Reis class, trial production for semi-autonomous midget submarines started this year. Gölcük shipyard command will have started production of MILDEN in their hangars immediately after REIS deliveries.

So actually, for the first time we are starting to run different submarine programs parallelly.

One of them will be a longer submarine than ever before, and possibly with a higher diving weight. This sub will have a strategic attack capability on land and will have a special propulsion solution, similar to what the Japanese did. On the other line, a midget-class attack submarine is being developed, which we have not preferred until now, and possibly completely customized for inland seas(Islands sea especially), so developed for use as a direct submarine hunter and for special infiltration operations.

Among other areas, developments in submarine projects confirm that 'naval expansion will begin in the 2030s', which we have determined many times here before.

Turkish defence industry is the little brother of German defence industry that is for sure. It is a shame that a green party with leftist scums destroying ther industry for people who cost them nothing but money. If we would worked together on MILDEN ther would be a super submarine in the world. They lost a partner and they have now another rivalry in the naval equipments.

I think the German government will eventually agree to Turkish demands.

We will no longer make any demands from any NATO country regarding our military needs.

We can manufacture parts of military equipment for them if we are to be commercially and politicaly profitable. This will happen at most.

And more importantly this situation is independent of AKP. Whoever is in power, this is what will happen.

seems like what happened to China is also happening to Turkey

within a generation China went from copying and reverse engineering to outright innovation and world leading

actually not even a generation rather I would say 20 years

from 2010-2030 no reason why Turkey cannot do the same

so just to be clear MILDEM is the national submarine project and there is also a mini submarine project STM-500?

will the STM-500 come after the Reis and before the MILDEM?

We copy some things completely. For example, the Canik TP9 series is a Walther copy. We add additional features to some things. Like the MPT 76 and its gas piston mechanism. In some things, we create completely original concepts. Like the TB2 used against regular armies. The situation is not as simple as it seems, you will understand.

Little things like handguns maybe i agreed. Fighter to ships, radar to data-link not.

please stop this kind of bombastic nationalist trolling

try to show some arguments...

The new 3000-ton submarine floating dry dock launched. With the Submarine drydock, which is among the few drydock in the world in its class, maintenance of our submarines and docking in emergencies will be provided. Project was implemented by ASFAT and the General Directorate of Shipyards.

Give it 10 years Turkish Naval forces will be strongest in the Mediterrean sea.
10 years? In 10 years a lot can happen. The country could go default, the Egyptians and others could buy or build more ships, some big naval power could wipe out the Turkish fleet :P

1st submarine of Reis class will enter service in early 2023 after which one submarine will enter service every year until all 6 have been delivered.

STM-500 has started construction for the first submarine which will enter service in 2026.

MILDEN will start construction in 2026.
