Turkey retires 40 Generals & Admirals accused of plotting coup

Well, i don't know from where he inspired but it is clear as day that you inspired by the backward definition of "democracy" of easy intervention of people's lifes and dictating beliefs on others. Or you may not be as good observer as you think... Because saying AKP improved democratic standarts of Turkey... :disagree:

Wth is easy sexuality? Is it something about not regulating what womans wear? Or allowing people to spend their time with their loved ones?
And low morality? Because seeing womans as sex objects is morality at its best?

Each day, we're wittnessing anti-democratic applications of the state, and it is really not making sense for me to read an Indian talking about how great the democracy in Turkey is...

RIGHTS - Radio host rapped by RTÜK for criticizing officer
LOCAL - AKP MP
LOCAL - Controversial police chief gets promoted

Or Do you think Turkish people are so morally right because we're not as free as western democracies? Like we're not reading disgusting news almost each day on the papers... And the funny thing is, the source of those news are usually being more conservative cities in Turkey.

May be my observations are not up to the standard of your benchmark. I live in a country that is applauded world wide as biggest democracy in the world and democratic since its inception as republic. It is the choice of people who elect a political party to run the country and the winning party has all the right to implement its agenda and manifesto.

You may like it or not, difference of opinion is the greatest gift of democracy in the next general election you will get chance overthrow AKP and bring back CHP or MHP or even BDP.

Oh? So we (non-AKP voters) should be okay with all of these anti-democratic applications just because they got elected? So by electing them, we give them right to intervene in our lifes, bedrooms, children, even our refrigerators?

Exactly, difference of opinion is the greatest gift of democracy which AKP can not stand and the prime reason why we're criticizing AKP at the moment.

A good democracy needs at least 2 strong parties (3 is OK too).

Less than 2 is a dictatorship obviously. duh!
More than 3 is anarchy. (few exceptions are countries like Japan, Israel, India, etc. etc,. but that will need a separate thread to discuss them fully)

If a country has more than 3 strong parties, and they bring instability, then military has to step in to protect the society. Without strong military such countries will easily turn in to Afghanistan, Somalia, or Yemen (and many many African countries, too many to list).

peace

2 is as good as dictatorship, you take a look at the USA. 2-3 stronger parties with a few smaller parties for possible coalition thats the way to go imho.

In normal circumstances there should be almost 2 equal strong parties and a couple of smaller parties yet still in parliament, as it is in every EU countries. But sadly Turkey got one strong party (AKP) and two weak (CHP, MHP). This means there is something wrong with CHP, they need to revise their party politics to attract more votes.

That's right we've seen much worse abuses, but my point by bringing those news was to strengthen my arguement : "Each day (i mean literally), we're wittnessing anti-democratic applications of the state."

Nevertheless, anti-democratic laws/applications of the past are not going to make AKP more democratic....
Yes i definitely agree with this. We can't close our eyes to current wrongdoings just because the past was worse. The problem with Turkish population i think is that we become fanatic of a political party/football team and then we try to defend all of their actions even if many are wrong. Therefor i want to tell you guys that AKP has many faults, but again i have to insist that they are currently the best among all the parties in Turkey, we must admit this.

I never saw one comment of you that where agains the politics of AKP so i dont understand now what you trying to point with this. Maybe your zigzag movements? The major difference between for example MHP and AKP is that MHP has his own doctrine and principles that forms a main target. But AKP is a party without these things and just appeared after a economic crisis. Their politics are not based on a belief that protects the Turkish nation and to secure its benefits but to dominate the Turkish government and change the regime after deviding the country.

I'm glad to see you are aware of those faults and you're right about the understanding of Turkish voters about their party. Most of them tend to feel like they have to agree and support all of their actions which is a big problem in Turkish politics (not for the politicians of course).

But i'm having a hard time to understand how exactly you come to conclusion that AKP is the best among others. I mean, every political party promises great things like, putting an end to the Kurdish problem, destroying PKK, improvements on democracy/human rights etc...
And in the past 10 years, we've seen that AKP lied and fooled its voters countless times. But regardless how corrupt they are, they have managed to increase their votes in every election which is a serious indicator of how bad the Turkish education system is and how ignorant our voters are.

How do you know if it wouldn't be better for Turkey, let's say if Party X have taken power in 2002 instead of AKP? We can not know that. Of course Turkey made a serious progress since 2002, but binding it with AKP and trying to show it as if it wasn't AKP, Turkey would stand where it was in 2002 is a serious problem of AKP fanboys. No offense.

Non taken, since i am not a fanboy:P
You are right we can't know for sure what would happen if another party came to power in 2002 instead of AKP. But since we can't do that i am judging my perspective on their accomplishments. We have a couple of serious problems in Turkey as you say.
One of them is education, obviously. Another is human rights. Herein religious, minority etc. We need to get over this stage as soon as possible and start focusing on other more imminent and serious issues like economic prosperity for all regardless of their religious conviction and ethnic background. That the political debate always concerns: 1: Kurds/PKK, and 2: Secularists vs Islamists is a serious flaw in our society. These issues should not even be issues and we should focus on other things.

Why you always trying to lower me?
I'm sorry if you think i am trying to lower you, since i am not. I just can't take you seriously when half of what you write is nonsense. Also i would like to tell you that your English has improved drastically.

What are you doing now, work, school? Have you decided on something?

By living in a hardcore Islamist society, I'm entitled to warn the turks not to let a stupid religious idiots rule you or have a saying to your matters. They do not want to take a little piece of your freedom. No, they want you to be their slave and to control what you say or think. They want you see what they see and hear what they hear. They want to own every piece of you, until you start denying your rights. If, I'm sorry not if. When you say NO to them, you are doomed. You will be accused of being kaffir secular who want people to walk naked on the streets :D . last thing I want to say is, I love Erdogan :D

The definition of advanced democracy can be easily coined from the graves of Adnan Menderes Fatin, Rüştü Zorlu and Hasan Polatkan.
