President Trump has reportedly told his top foreign policy advisers that they can do anything they want to Iran, as long as they do not “start World War III.”
Administration officials told The Daily Beast that President Trump has “checked out” over Iran, and has handed decision-making powers over to US secretary of state Mike Pompeo and other members of his White House team.

Officials said that the US president has told Mr Pompeo and other officials to implement any action they want to take in Iran before the end of his presidency, as long as it does not start “World War III.”
President Trump has been personally involved in the administration’s “maximum pressure” approach to Iran since 2016, implementing multiple sanctions on the country and ordering the killing of its top general, Qassem Soleimani, on 3 January 2020, according to Business Insider.

Since the US election on 3 November, the president has attempted to damage the US’ relationship with Iran further, after widespread reports suggested that President-elect Joe Biden would take a softer approach with the country.

Mr Biden is expected to revive a nuclear deal between Iran and other world powers that was abandoned by Mr Trump in 2018, which would offer the country financial relief in return for a limit on nuclear activities.
In early November, Mr Trump asked his top aides if the US could attack Iran’s main nuclear site, as he tried to reignite tensions in the region, according to The New York Times.

However, one official said that Mr Trump has recently abandoned his personal attempts to undermine Mr Biden in Iran and has instead become consumed by his fruitless efforts to overturn the 2020 US election.

Officials said that Mr Pompeo and his team have already made progress on actions they want to take and are now planning on implementing more sanctions on Iran over the next few weeks.
The US introduced sanctions on companies in Russia and China that were helping Iran with its missile programme last week, while officials told The Daily Beast that individuals and organisations linked to the country will be hit with sanctions over the next few days.

The Trump administration is also believed to have been aware of the assassination of a senior Iranian nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, prior to him being killed in a targeted attack in Tehran, Iran, last week.

Israel, which is a close US ally, is suspected to be behind the attack, according to Politico. Iran has threatened to retaliate for both the deaths of Fakhrizadeh and Soleimani.
On Wednesday, the Washington Post reported that the Trump administration will withdraw dozens of its diplomats from the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, as tensions rise throughout the region.

The withdrawal of diplomats was described to the Post by a US State Department official as a “de-risking”, ahead of the anniversary of the killing of Soleimani by a US drone strike in Baghdad.
The official, who spoke under anonymity, said that the withdrawal will continue after the anniversary date. Donald Trump’s presidency ends on 20 January.

The State Department did not provide an official confirmation of the staff reduction in Baghdad, but told the Post that ensuring the safety of US employees is its “highest priority.”
“The State Department continually adjusts its diplomatic presence at Embassies and Consulates throughout the world in line with its mission, the local security environment, the health situation, and even the holidays,” a department official said.
They confirmed that the US ambassador Matthew Tueller will remain in Iraq, while the embassy will continue to operate as normal.

In case you had difficulty grasping the insanity of Trump, Mike Pompeo and other neocons allegedly had to talk Trump out of engaging in a conflict with Iran. If this revelation was true, and I would not be surprised if it is, it perfectly sums up Trump's twisted mentality in that he makes the neocons seem like the rational ones. Of course it was not unexpected that Trump would try everything else he could in his final days to get any last hits in. But It's all in vain.

If true, then I doubt there will be anything big happening with that barrell of waste managing it directly.
The rabble of degenerate scum and bloated fleas that are the trump admin are desperately kicking and screaming their last until they are forcibly removed in January.

As great as that will be, seeing Trump and his Israeli-firster ilk leave office. We still have to worry about the vast and much more well-entrenched Israeli plants he left in his wake. I have zero-doubt that his administration has personally taken charge of making sure Israel's guys in the U.S. head more important institutions and will further push Israel's control in the U.S. for decades more to come.

What an absolute sham of a "government"....Can't really call the U.S. sovereign when all our supposed leaders are either bought out or coerced by Jewish organizations sympathetic to Israel.

I honestly think a time will come when muslim rulers (we have no leaders) will realise that AAIPAC and senators that love war are prime targets as are their families. Until war is taken to the war mongers directly they will continue to get everyone else's sons killed without a care in the world.
BJP leadership should be hit and hit hard. Wives kids all targets. Let them know you want to kill then be prepared to die and see your loved ones killed.

Oh I can assure it will be far worse; the things that biden has been saying lately about zionism means he is even more than any other president I have ever seen or heard! his belly is already so full of bodily discharges from netanyahoo and company that he will have to waddle up to the podium for his inauguration ritual.

The hammer is about to come down on Iran. US will probably bomb Iran nuclear facilities, They've been working on high tech bunker buster bombs for just such a situation. Will be interesting times.

News like this makes me glad that the Deep State stepped in to remove that White trash from the White House.

Trump was an element of controlled pseudo-opposition put in place by the same deep state, under the supervision of Henry Kissinger. The Flynn clan (father and son), which orchestrated the "Q-Anon" hoax, has NSA and psy-ops background. It's not that the deep state Trump was denouncing doesn't exist, nor that its members aren't degenerates responsible for horrendous crimes. It's that Trump never was the person willing and capable of confronting let alone eradicating it.

But he instead took on a ride some of the alienated segments of US citizenry, those with a revolutionary potential, all the while of delegitimizing the anti-deep state discourse in the eyes of the more educated segments still loyal to the system, because of his clownish antics and due to some of the more outlandish claims mixed with true ones that "Q-Anon" and similar Trumpist propaganda outlets were peddling.

This is one of the tactics employed by the oppressive US system: when threatened by the consequences of its own manhandling and exploitation of its subjects, it will prop up a controlled opposition figure whose strings it pulls and whom it does not have to fear the least, in order to misdirect and neutralize brewing popular anger.

Another tactic is the so-called "horizontalization" of the social struggle, i.e. the redirection of the main target of popular wrath, away from the entirety of the ruling class and towards parts of society iself (and particularly of the working class), following the divide and rule principle. Which is exactly what occurred under Trump with artificially engineered and entertained divides such as "left vs right", "racists vs anti-racists", "whites vs blacks and immigrants" etc.

The solution to the American people's woes however is more straight forward: the whole US regime needs to be brought down and by a massive popular upheaval at that, any leaders of which must be wholly unaffiliated and unrelated to any of the existing power structures (unlike Trump).

The alternatives to Trump, including the person who is to follow him in the White House, are by no means more likeable or less dangerous to international peace and security.

Let's not forget that under Obama, new sanctions against Iran were conceived to be "crippling" (in the administration's own terms), that several Iranian nuclear scientists were assassinated and terrorist attacks conducted in Iran, and that the US instigated wholesale conflicts in Syria and Libya in addition to a spate of "colored revolutions" and destabilizations.

So we shouldn't let our legitimate disgust for the current administration blind us to the real, albeit better concealed nature of both its predecessor and its successor.

Perhaps. I think it is more likely that Trump's electoral victory was a shock to the deep state. During his tenure, he's tried to accommodate them somewhat by appointing prominent neocons to his cabinet. However, he was never as compliant or disciplined as past presidents were and his frequent twitter based verbal garbage was a threat to the legitimacy of deep state institutions. That's why he had to go. He was too much of a clown.

The same deep-state will remain in power it is always been the same. New face but same policy.

Haven't you noticed all presidents post Bush followed his policy and the same will occur again. Biden already said he won't lift china's tariffs immediately
