That's was not what I was trying to imply, the thrust of the argument was, if BJP can negotiate with a dictator , someone who planned Kargil conflict, and came very close to the resolution of Kashmir issue, with eventual referendum in Kashmir part of the plan, despite of stated public stance about Kashmir being non negotiable, the talk of BJP not lasting a day and Indian public opinion is tbh , pure BS.

I think you touched something important. It is possible that US has realized [think the British knew this all along and did not go head first for India but kept Pakistann also in their thoughts] now that they invested too much into the idea that India can offset China. That realization might now be emerging in Washington. It's not that India is pivot state in Pacific Asia, it is but Pakistan in it's own way is also pivotal in West Asia. although smaller then India it still is a large country. So the US might adopt a more nuanced policy where they depend on India but also engage with Pakistan.

I think Pakistan needs to keep USA and west as cultivated as possible so that it can extract the most out of the Sino-Western rivalry. If Pakistan loses the west entirely it will become a Chinese dependent and that will reduce it's ability to bargain with China.
