About Khomeinei,I don't know much.
But Stalin and Robospierre were definitely evil.

Neither committed genocide or arbitrary killings. Robospierre's killings came in a time of chaos and might have helped stabilize France. Sure, they were overboard, but the French nobility had been causing the deaths of tens of thousands of ordinary French people for ages through their oppressive rule. The only reason Robospierre is singled out is because he hurt the priviledged class.

As for Stalin, he didn't even do much in the way of killing. He wasn't very good with people, which caused a couple of his family members to commit suicide. And he presided over a system that executed roughly a million people - most of them for violent crimes. But his overall effect on Soviet society was largely positive. He can hardly be considered evil.

Neither Stalin nor Robospierre were driven by personal gain, and neither of them harmed the less privileged people in society.

Well, he killed many indirectly. He ordered a man-made famine in some soviet republics like Ukraine that caused millions of Ukrainians to starve to death. (Read about the Holodomor).
