Russian Sovremenny Class Destroyer was designed to seek out and destroy ships Arleigh Burke Class (Aegis) Guided Missile Destroyers of the US. Sov is equipped with 8 Moskit, the supersonic missile with terrible power with a maximum range of up to 250km with a 300kg warhead, the fastest missile in the world with speeds reaching 3M and can reach speeds 2.2-2.5M during flying close to the sea 250km 5M, Can not intercept P-270 because of its supersonic speed and just 1 hit was enough engulfed a ton vessel 20000. Sov is equipped with ultra-modern rooms Shtil (SA-N-7 Gadfly) can intercept any target in range to 25km and speeds up to 3,000 km.
Sov does not need the long-range air defense systems, such as S-300 with Shtil because it can destroy any anti-ship missiles such as Harpoon to the west, or flying fish. with 48 missiles, it can afford to intercept a missile like the rain of 12 to 24 F-18 aircraft of the U.S. Navy Aegis ships, or 2 to 3. Close-range defense system of Sovremenny four AK-630, with 6 barrel 30 mm, can be fired automatically by radar at 5,000 rounds per minute with an effective range from 4km should not have any rockets of the DDG-51 class as harpoon or Tomahawk could hit Sov.However The Aster 30 missiles were successfully tested previously, with a target speed of Mach 2.5 flight, 5m ceiling and said before the way, the direction of the missile.

The Ticonderoga class ships have remarkable number of SAM, better radar and Aegis modernization. I think this may be a draw and match depending on the element of luck, surprises Rus warships or U.S warships can win

US ships have better anti-aircraft system in form of SM2/SM3 system, widely considered the best air-defence system available. So without intervention of naval air wings and submarine wings of either side, this would be an even match, with slight edge to the Russian's for better surface to surface weapons, IMO.

The AEGIS is without a doubt the best ship based defense system(followed by the System on board the Daring class DDG). However, the extreme speed of Soviet ASMs and the sheer number in a swarm launch tactic generally means that some will get through the missile later.. and one or two will get past the CIWS system..

Before the Type 052C 150 was inducted, they rather chose the Type 054A as the flag ship of PLA's East Sea Fleet instead of Sovremenny.

I am not commenting on Slava or Udaloy, since we never have these ships in possession, but Sovremenny in PLAN is below Type 054A, then let alone the much more advanced Type 052C/D.

Are you a Chinese, why you are not confident about the ability of the country you ship?

The problem is that the modern warfare is not about one on one duel, the AB is the bodyguard of the supercarrier battlegroup that provides an excellent air defence system.

The F-18E with a combat radius of 1000km would mostly likely reach the Sovremenny DDG before it can hit supercarrier battlegroup including their AB bodyguards.

BTW, another reason that PLAN hates Sovremenny is because its propulsion is steam turbine, PLAN largely favors the gas turbine DDG over a steam turbine one.
